Position Type: Full-Time Shift Availability: Day and Night Shifts Required (Flexible Schedule Needed)
Our client is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to support telecommunications infrastructure projects. This position is suited for a technician with hands on experience in both outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) fiber environments, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety, accuracy, and high quality work.
OSP and ISP splicing — Perform fiber optic splicing in OSP and ISP environments, including ribbon splicing, ribbonizing, and ribbon splitting within 288 and 428 fiber configurations.
Live network work — Complete splicing tasks within active network environments while minimizing downtime and maintaining service continuity.
OTDR testing — Conduct OTDR testing, interpret results, and diagnose signal loss or network issues.
Troubleshooting and restoration — Identify fiber connectivity problems and perform appropriate repair and restoration procedures.
Equipment operation — Operate, maintain, and properly handle fiber optic equipment such as fusion splicers, mechanical splicers, cleavers, OTDR devices, and power meters.
Hand tool usage — Use industry standard hand tools including fiber strippers, buffer tube splitters, and cable ring tools for fiber preparation and cable management.
Compliance and standards — Ensure all work aligns with project specifications, company standards, and industry compliance requirements.
Documentation and organization — Maintain accurate documentation, organized job sites, and proper equipment tracking and inventory.
Minimum of 2 years of hands on fiber optic splicing experience.
Strong working knowledge of fusion splicing equipment, OTDR testing, power meters, and related fiber optic tools.
Previous experience with fiber optic cable installation preferred.
Must have experience working with live enclosures.
Valid driver’s license required, along with the ability to meet all driving, safety, medical, and drug screening requirements.
Reliable, detail oriented, and capable of working independently as well as within a team.
Must be at least 18 years old.
