Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Hydro Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing hydro-related equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties
- Operates, controls, and monitors hydroelectric generating units and auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Includes availability for on-call rotations and weekend work as needed
- Responds to emergencies and troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on hydro equipment, including turbines, pumps, and piping systems
- Utilize schematics and technical drawings to assemble, troubleshoot, and repair complex machinery
- Perform quality control checks and quality assurance testing to meet industry and regulatory standards
- Collect and analyze data related to system performance, efficiency, and safety metrics
- Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments for assembly and repairs
- Implement non-destructive testing methods to evaluate the integrity of components without causing damage
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, data collection results, and compliance documentation
- Ability to work in a shop setting to include layout, welding, cutting, machining, etc
- Performs housekeeping maintenance duties to keep facilities and grounds clean, safe, and accessible
Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Several years of experience in hydroelectric power operations and/or maintenance (preferred)
- Possession of an unrestricted NYS motor vehicle license
- Possession of reliable means of transportation
- Strong mechanical/electrical knowledge with hands-on experience in assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting of hydro systems
- Familiarity with quality inspection procedures and quality assurance protocols in industrial settings
- Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and system diagrams accurately
- Experience with data collection tools and analysis skills to monitor system performance effectively
- Ability to utilize tech systems such as Microsoft suite, email, SCADA, remote access platforms, etc
- Ability to work irregular hours, to support operations, and to be available on-call, 24/7, for emergencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with management and other co-workers
- Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50-lbs
- Ability to regularly work outside in varying weather conditions
- Must live within a 1-hour commute of the assigned site(s) (Theresa, Watertown, and Port Leyden areas)

Pay: $27.00 - $31.00 per hour
