Job Summary
A Mother's Wish Childcare Center is seeking a lead teacher in a multi-age classroom.
Please Note: Work experience and educational background will be used to determine rate of pay
Responsibilities and Duties
Lead Teacher Daily Responsibilities:
Creates an interactive learning environment that is fun, full of energy and engaging
Creates monthly lesson plans that can be followed by the teacher assistant as well as a substitute instructor
Design an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom
Conduct group lessons and circle time
Prepare daily learning packets and activities
Conduct assessments and monthly milestone goals
Maintain a portfolio for each child
Perform child observations and document in their portfolios
Assist with individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional and academic areas
Provide the children with a “prepared environment” to learn, create , and grow
Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and co-workers
Prepare daily progress reports for parents
Participate in all school programs
Assist at lunch while helping children to learn how to help themselves
Keep the classroom, and all common areas, clean and inviting
Work Hours: 6am - 3pm with potential for more hours in the afternoon.
Maintain Professional Commitment:
Complete and submit all records as required, including time sheets, attendance sheets, incident reports and any other required materials
Train the Assistant teacher to multi-task and how to teach the curriculum
Support a code of ethical conduct both in class and outside of the learning environment
Good role model including attendance, dress code, attitude
Open to change - Flexible and able to adapt
Participates in extra-curricular activities of center
Consistently attends teacher training hours as required by the State of TN
Show interest in self-development and professional growth
Show evidence of emotional maturity and stability
Pursue professional development/continuing education
Attend faculty meetings, in-service days, conferences and professional growth opportunities
Adhere to the safety policies and procedures of A Mother's Wish.
Become knowledgeable with Montessori terminology and methods
Qualifications and Skills
Lead Teacher Requirements:
Ideal candidates for the Teacher position should have all or some of the REQUIRED DHS training necessary for hire. A CDA (or higher degree) is preferred, but not necessary. Must have proof, at least, of a High School Diploma. Experience leading/assisting in a classroom (ECED) setting also preferred.
Candidates must be CPR and First Aid Certified or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 60 days of hire. All candidates will have a background check.
Complete: A Tuberculosis test, an employment physical, and provide a physician's documentation of both
Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
Be aware of the unique needs of each child
Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift and carry children on a daily basis
Have dependable transportation
Compensation is based upon experience.
