Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Drafter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and schematics that support various projects across construction, and system design disciplines. Your expertise in AutoCAD software and mechanical drafting standards will be essential in translating conceptual ideas into accurate, comprehensive drawings that facilitate seamless project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative designs while working in a collaborative environment that values precision, creativity, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

Draft custom residential floor plans, elevations, and construction documents

Modify existing plans based on client and builder feedback

Ensure drawings meet local building codes and construction standards

Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients

Maintain organized drawing files and revisions

Assist with permit-ready plan sets when needed

Required Qualifications

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required)

Experience drafting residential homes or light construction projects

Strong understanding of construction methods and basic building codes

Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of drafting experience (residential preferred)

Experience with custom home builders

Familiarity with local NC permitting processes

Basic 3D modeling or rendering skills

Qualifications

Some experience in mechanical drafting or system design with proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or Pro/ENGINEER required.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, schematics development, assembly processes, and technical writing.
Familiarity with industry standards including ASME codes & standards is highly desirable.
Knowledge of GD&T practices and experience with FEA software is a plus.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and convey complex ideas clearly.
