Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and stepdown care! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient-centered care across diverse clinical settings, ensuring smooth transitions from critical to less intensive care. Your expertise will help stabilize and support patients with complex medical needs, utilizing your broad skill set to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing. Title: RN- PCU/Stepdown
Shift Schedule: 12 X 3-Nights
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Start: 08/03/2026 (Tentative)

Duties

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU/stepdown environment, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing IV infusions.
COVID VACCINE REQUIRED: Fully vaccinated means either 2 shots of Moderna or Pfizer or 1 shot of J&J; If a traveler wants to decline based on a Medical or Religious reason, please have them fill out the appropriate Exemption Form. These should be done ASAP as they have to go through a council to be approved or denied

Perform detailed patient assessments, interpret physiological data, and develop individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital protocols.
Utilize advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient information and medical records management.
Assist with procedures including catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and sterile dressing changes while maintaining aseptic technique.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute care services.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, radiology procedures like CT scans or sonography, and participate in trauma or emergency response situations including Level I or II trauma center protocols.
Support patients with specialized needs such as those requiring hospice & palliative medicine, memory care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Experience

Prior experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
Familiarity with complex procedures including cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, ostomy care, or neonatal ventilator use is advantageous.
Strong background in medical-surgical nursing across inpatient settings such as medical offices, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics.
Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with healthcare standards like NCQA is beneficial.
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy knowledge is essential.
Ability to perform physical examinations, venipuncture, phlebotomy, medication administration—including injections—and patient assessments confidently across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
