Integrity House seeks a Director of Nursing is responsible for administrative and clinical oversight of nursing services provided through the full continuum at Integrity House. The Director of Nursing collaborates with the medical practitioners and provide guidance to the nursing staff for day to day operations and client care. The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring all clients receive medications in a timely fashion, proper follow up for care, and other responsibilities as assigned. The Director of Nursing is responsible for bridging the gap between front line nursing staff and program leadership, developing and implementing organizational/strategic changes, enhancing existing services, and positive outcomes with direction from the Chief Clinical Officer.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of a Director of Nursing:
Maintain compliance with applicable licensing, regulatory, and accreditation standards, serving as the program Director of Nursing:
- Participate in audits/inspections and develop and implement plan of correction
- Providing administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services.
- Assisting the administrator of the facility in developing and maintaining written objectives, policies and procedures related to nursing services, developing an organization plan, and developing a quality assurance program for nursing services, and reviewing all nursing policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with but not limited to the NJ Department of Health regulations for residential substance use disorder treatment programs, outpatient substance use disorder treatment programs, outpatient mental health treatment programs, primary care, DEA, CARF, etc.
Enhance Service Delivery & Program Model
- Participating in the development of client treatment plans;
- Providing face-to-face health care monitoring for the facility's clients;
- Develop necessary workflows for program operations.
- Complete routine audits of files and medication carts, including related medical operations to ensure compliance.
- Directly engage with consulting providers including but not limited to pharmacy, vendors, etc. to ensure continuity of care.
Staff Development
- Provide administrative supervision and leadership to the department for nursing staff.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate all program staff—with KPIs and measurable business and developmental goals.
- Educate and train staff about Integrity’s service line, the needs of the population, and collaborate with other departments to ensure success of strategic goals.
- Provide direct, documented supervision for all staff ensuring compliance with workflows, regulations, and other operational requirements.
Perform Nursing Services
- Apply evidence-based practices and nursing standards to deliver high-quality care and establish protocols.
- Promote patient independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching and counseling patient and family; provide education related to illness/disease, medications, and self-care skills.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform nursing assessments for clients enrolled in care, including vitals, medical history, etc.
- Administer medications including injections, and all forms of medications for opioid and alcohol use disorders (i.e. Methadone, Buprenorphine, Vivitrol, etc.)
- Draw labs and collect other specimens (i.e. urine, saliva, etc.)
- Work closely with the medical providers to fulfill doctors’ orders, medication orders, labs, and referrals.
- Complete and review shift reports to ensure all staff are informed of operations and department/client needs.
- Collaborate with external partners (i.e. pharmacy, lab, disposal services, etc.) to ensure patient care and timely response.
- Review documentation post emergency department visits and specialty appointments offsite, and complete necessary care coordination for follow up care.
Licensing or Certifications:
- Clinical Licensure as Registered Nurse (RN), required.
- A valid NJ Driver’s License, required.
- Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN), preferred.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- One-year in nursing supervision or nursing administration required; and
- One-year full-time experience with the management of addictions in a licensed substance use disorder treatment facility.
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, or other health related health profession; preferred.
- Knowledge about substance use disorder recovery, trauma informed care, and the value of other disciplines.
- In depth knowledge about mental health and substance use disorders.
- Strong and proven leadership experience.
- Strong time management and organization skills, ability to prioritize, required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. The Director of Nursing works in setting that includes inpatient and residential care and will be required to work outside of the standard work schedule and is also required to be on-call outside of the work hours including on the weekends. The Director of Nursing is required to be in both primary settings, Newark and Secaucus as a routine function of the job.
