We are a leader in control system integration services across all markets. We are currently in the process of expanding our automation and control system integration team and are looking to hire experienced personnel.

The Sr. Automation Engineer position requires a highly motivated, detailed individual who is self-directed and able to professionally engage with customers. This candidate shall have a working knowledge and experience with critical process and safety control system that are applied in several industries.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a strong team supplying the best automation solutions and services. ICS is leading the way in providing innovative solutions to support the growing efforts of the Oil & Gas, LNG, Renewable Energy, Chemicals, Industrial Energy, and other industries and markets that are emerging within the U.S. and around the globe.

Responsibilities:

- Interpreting customer specifications, drawings, and documentation requirements, along with industrial standards such as NFPA, CSA, UL508, IEC, and NEMA, then translating these requirements into component bills of material, electrical and control system drawings for control panel integration, and development of control system strategies.
- Support ICS business development activities and sales team with reviewing customer RFQ specifications, assist with providing input to the ICS proposal team along with detailed project estimating.
- Read and understand scope documentation detailing control system functionality required for the implementation of PLC and DCS architecture design and program development.
- Development of logic and control strategies for PLC and DCS based critical process and safety control systems.

Develop HMI screens and perform associated configurations of Operator Workstations (OWS), Engineering Workstations (EWS), including setup of Historian Workstations and Report Development.

Conduct and/or participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of ICS supplied control systems.
Develop simulation logic to support the functional and dynamic testing of PLC and HMI systems. This will involve testing of integrated control systems to ensure the required functionality and proper operation meets each customer’s specifications and expectations.
Train customers on use and operation of supplied control system deliverables.
Provide direction and interface engineering with the ICS and outside panel shops along with electrical installation contractors, and third-party vendors as required.
Perform on-site start up and commissioning of ICS supplied control systems at customer sites which require travel.
Capable of performing tuning and optimization of supplied control systems.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with ten (10) years minimum of related control system experience.
Strong knowledge of ISA, TUV, IEC, ATEX, API, and NFPA guidelines that apply to safety system designs applied in the industrial energy markets.
TUV and ISA 84 Certifications for SIS applications involving SIL Levels 1, 2, & 3 is required including strong familiarity with IEC-61508, 61511, and 61131.
Proven experience with conducting or involvement with a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF), and performing PFD & PFH calculations determining SIL rated systems, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) is a highly beneficial.
Proven experience in effectively programming and integration of the following control system platforms listed below:
- Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley Logix PLCs
- Rockwell Automation AADvance and Trusted Safety System Platforms
- Emerson Delta V (M & S Series) Process & Safety Platform (highly beneficial)
- Invensys Triconex Tricon & Trident SIS Systems
Proven experience in effectively programming and configuration of the following HMI platforms listed below:
- Rockwell Automation Factory Talk SE & ME, and PlantPAX (highly beneficial)
- Wonderware System Platform (Archestra) and Intouch (Certification with System Platform-Archestra is highly beneficial)
- Emerson Delta V (highly beneficial)
- Ignition HMI systems (highly beneficial)
Proven experience with execution of control system retrofit projects is highly beneficial
Experience with client / server architectures including virtualization with VMWare is a highly beneficial.
Knowledge and proven experience with OSI PI and other Historian packages.
Experience with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, etc.
Proficient with Microsoft software applications (MS Word/Excel/Power-Point/Visio)
Knowledge of HMI and control system communication networks including related hardware such as Ethernet switches and media converters, various types of communication protocols and media that are applied in redundant and simplex architecture designs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work autonomously while cultivating a team environment with fellow automation engineers and designers.
Have excellent troubleshooting skills.
Effective at communicating with management, customers, and vendors.
Motivated, self-starter who will take ownership of tasks.
