Kitson & Partners, developers of Babcock Ranch, America’s first solar-powered town, has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Senior Director of Operational Accounting at our Babcock Ranch location.
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Director of Operational Accounting to lead financial operations, GAAP compliance, and team development for our premier operational entities and utility companies. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex technical accounting and strategic business planning. You will oversee the month-end close, drive the annual budgeting process, and act as a critical financial partner to our leadership team and investors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership: Directly supervise, mentor, and elevate the Babcock Accounting team to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and robust internal communication.
- Yardi Optimization: Leverage Yardi to streamline the month-end close, manage leasebacks, debt/interest payments, customer billings, and allocations.
- FP&A & Strategic Reporting: Drive the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts; deliver high-density monthly and quarterly financial packages directly to Partners.
- GAAP & Cash Management: Maintain flawless GAAP-basis books while successfully reconciling data to Cash Basis reporting; oversee cash flow projections tied directly to investor capital calls.
- Month-End Mastery: Facilitate a timely monthly closing process and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled with zero discrepancies older than 30 days.
- Technical Compliance: Lead annual impairment reviews for long-lived assets, author technical accounting memos, and ensure strict compliance with internal controls, debt covenants, and bond agreements.
What You Bring:
- Active CPA license is strictly required.
- Systems Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience using Yardi for property management, job costing, or utility accounting.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Industry Background: Direct experience in real estate development, construction, infrastructure, or utility accounting is highly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of US GAAP, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and internal controls.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership skills, clear universal communication, and the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial partners.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college
- Prior experience in real estate required.
- Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm) preferred.
