Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Attendant to join our multidisciplinary team committed to providing comprehensive mental health and behavioral support. In this role, you will assist individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and substance use challenges. Your responsibilities will include supporting patient care, implementing behavior management strategies, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, experience working with youth and individuals with disabilities, and a compassionate approach to mental health care.

Duties

Provide direct patient care by monitoring behavioral and emotional states, ensuring safety and well-being at all times.
Assist with intake assessments, documenting vital signs and medical information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Implement behavior intervention plans utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and de-escalation strategies to promote positive behaviors.
Support individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), neurodevelopmental disorders, and substance use disorders through tailored behavioral health interventions.
Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document medication administration precisely in medical records.
Conduct crisis management and crisis intervention when necessary, employing effective de-escalation techniques to prevent harm.
Collect data related to patient progress, behaviors, and treatment responses to inform ongoing care plans.
Collaborate with social workers, mental health professionals, and family members to coordinate comprehensive client support.
Assist in medical procedures such as taking vital signs or providing first aid and CPR when required.
Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and treatment updates within EMR/EHR systems.

Qualifications

Prior experience working with children, youth, or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
Knowledge of mental health care practices including PTSD care, addiction counseling, autism support, and crisis intervention techniques.
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
Ability to perform first aid and CPR certification is desirable.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities enhances effectiveness in this role.
Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations calmly and professionally while maintaining patient confidentiality.
