Full Job Description

Job Title:

Medical Assistant / EMT

MedFast Urgent Care

Reports To:

Clinic Supervisor

Position Summary

Hiring a Certified Medical Assistant or EMT. This position supports the delivery of patient care in a fast-paced urgent care environment. This role combines clinical and administrative functions, with a strong emphasis on performing occupational health services, including pre-employment and annual physicals for public safety agencies such as fire departments and sheriff’s offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities:

Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatment plans.
Perform Phlebotomy - blood draws for labs, pre-employment screenings, and occupational health testing.
Administer vaccines, injections, medications, and point-of-care testing (urinalysis, EKGs, glucose checks, etc.).
Conduct vision and hearing screenings as needed for physicals.
Perform drug and alcohol screenings in compliance with regulatory protocols.
Prepare exam rooms, ensure cleanliness, and maintain infection control standards.
Accurately document all patient encounters and procedures in the electronic medical record system.

Occupational Health and Physicals:

Conduct pre-employment and annual physical examinations in collaboration with providers.
Complete required forms and documentation for fire department and sheriff’s office clearances.
Ensure all testing (labs, vaccines, screenings) is performed according to agency requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and agency-specific policies.

Administrative and Support:

Monitor and restock supplies, including phlebotomy and testing materials.
Support front desk and other team members as needed to maintain efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
Phlebotomy certification strongly preferred.
At least 1 year of experience in urgent care, occupational health, or a similar setting is highly desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:

Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required and must be maintained current.
Current Phlebotomy certification (as applicable by state regulations).

Skills and Competencies:

Familiarity with OSHA standards and infection control procedures.
Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
Professional communication with patients, providers, and public safety personnel.
Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume environment.
Respect for patient confidentiality and strict adherence to clinic policies.
Proficiency with phlebotomy and specimen collection.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Use of personal protective equipment as required.

Work Schedule:

3 1/2 days on, 3 1/2 days off schedule
Monday through Thursday or
Friday through Monday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
