Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Mission Leader providesexecutive Mission Integrationleadership as part ofaHealth Ministryleadership team, ensuring the successfulassessment and integration of mission inall the ministries' activities, decisions, and strategies.The Mission Leader is responsible for the implementation of Missionactivities anddelivery ofMission Integration Essential Services, in alignment withsystem-level Mission Integration strategies and operational priorities.MissionIntegration directedservices include ministryformation, ethics, cultivation of the ministry community, and implementation of theCatholic Identity Assessment(CIA).In addition, the Mission Leader collaborates with theManager ofSpiritual Care to ensure the full integration ofprofessionalchaplaincy within theMinistry.
The Mission Leaderreports directly toa service areaVice Presidentof Mission Integration&Mission Strategy Partner(MSP)with a dual reporting relationship todesignatedHealth MinistryCEOs,president(s)and/oradministrator(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates, anddemonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, andCoreValues in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Facilitates the integration of Trinity Health’s Mission and Core Values in allcare settingsand among all colleagueswithindesignatedMinistry(ies).
Implements and makes relevantsystem MissionIntegrationstrategies, policies, and standard practicesfor the Health Ministryin accordance withoperational plans andprioritiesidentified at thesystem level. MaysuperviseMission Integration Consultant(s) toassist in these functions asdesignated by MSP.
Serves as an active member ofMinistryexecutive leadership team(s), asdesignated by the MSP, strategic and organizational development teams, and other leadership groups asappropriate. Develops,participates in, leads and influences daily operational decisions and activities of theMinistry by contributing amission-focused perspective, experience, encouragement, and challenge.
Works withstakeholdersfromacutecare,community-based, and continuing careministries to ensurethe implementation of the Trinity Health Mission Integrationoperationalplan, itspriorityobjectives, andthe assessment and improvement of MissionIntegrationEssential Servicesfor thedesignatedLocal Community of Service (LCS).
AttendsMinistryboard meetings and providesmission-focused formation and education for theboard on a regular basis.
Ensures that standardMission Integrationpolicies and procedures are implementedby the designatedMinistry(ies).
Beginning with orientation of new colleagues, theMissionLeader ensures continuingministryformation of leaders and colleagues.
Collaborates with colleagues in all operational areas (e.g.,talentdevelopment, human resources, finances, planning, advocacy/government relations, communication and marketing,communityhealth andwell-being, etc.) toensure that Mission, Vision,and Core Values areintegrated intoMinistryprograms,policies, and procedures.
Oversees theimplementation of all phases ofCatholic Identity Assessment (CIA), a program toassess and deepenthe organization’s Catholic identity.
Oversees and providesforMinistryorganizational and clinical ethicsprograms, including the implementation of theEthical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services(ERDs), ethics facilitation,and the support ofthe Ministry’sEthics Committee(s).
Serves as the executive sponsor and leader ofcolleaguecare andwell-being for the Health Ministry.
Supports and coordinatesmissiondiscernmenteducation andprocessesfor Ministry boards and leadership teams.
Partners with thesystem Director of Spiritual Care in providing supervision and support toManager(s) ofSpiritualCare.
Overseesexecutive administrative duties related todesignatedMinistry’sMission Integration departments and programs (e.g.spiritualcare,ethics,ministryformation,colleague care,etc.)and othersdesignated byitsCEO,president(s), oradministrator(s), with support fromthe MSP.
Implements plans for workplace spirituality that are aligned withMinistryandsystem strategies.
SupportMinistry CEO,president(s),administrator(s) inestablishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships with theCatholic diocese’sbishop(s) and/or theirliaison(s) forhealthcare. This is donewith guidance from the MSP andin collaboration withsystem Mission Integration leaders andcommunity&governmentrelationsleader(s).
Participates as an active member of the Trinity Health MissionIntegration Forum.
Reports to the Mission Strategy Partnerwith responsibilities to Health MinistryCEO,president(s) and/oradministrator(s).
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, andLocal laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresto ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Mustpossess anin-depth knowledge of Catholictheology and ethicsparticularlyas applied to Catholic health care and as normally obtained through aMaster'sDegree in theology or a related field. Must have experience in nurturing the Catholic identity ofanorganization throughunderstanding and applyingCatholic social teachings. At least3 years of clinical practice or ministerialexperience in health care preferred.
Must have proven successfulmanagementand/oreducationalexperiencein an institutional setting. Mustdemonstrate skill and experience in strategic thinking, program/projectmanagement,processimprovementand organizational/change management. Experience inhealth caresetting preferred.
Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment including the ability toestablish and maintain interdisciplinary relationships in a complex matrixed organization.
Must possess effective communications skills with the ability to relatewell to individualpersons andto make public presentations. Must havedemonstrated listening skills.
Must evidencea working knowledge of the connectionsamong spirituality, meaning and work as well asan appreciation of the process of religious formationand a respect for diversity of religious beliefs and culture.
Mustpossess a personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote theMission,VisionandCoreValues of Trinity Health.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to set andorganizeown workpriorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
Must be able to travel to sites within a local area withinTrinity Health (50%).
Must be physically present toMinistry sites asnecessitated bythe services being delivered. Occasional on-demand physical presence isrequired.
Must be able to provide oral presentations to virtual and in-person audiences.
Mustcomply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
