You don't just want a sales job. You want to build something — a market presence, a reputation, a book of business that's yours.
Opening Technologies is growing its commercial doors, frames, and hardware division, and we're looking for someone who sees a blank market map as an opportunity, not a problem. This role gives you real autonomy to shape your territory, influence strategy, and put your name on deals that move California's commercial construction landscape.
If you're energized by opening doors (literally and figuratively), connecting with people who make decisions, and watching your effort compound into real market share — keep reading.
What you'll build:
Your own market presence
You'll identify and pursue new commercial opportunities across the San Diego area and beyond — GCs, builders, facility managers, property owners. You're not inheriting a territory. You're defining one.
Deep, lasting relationships
Get in front of decision-makers early in the project cycle. Be the person they call first — not because you followed up three times, but because you added value before anyone asked you to.
A growing pipeline — from scratch
You'll develop proposals, close deals, and partner with our estimating and operations teams to make sure every project handoff is seamless. Your wins become the company's momentum.
Market intelligence that shapes strategy
You'll spot patterns, identify gaps, and bring field insights back to leadership. Your perspective on the market will actually influence how we grow.
What makes you a fit
- You have experience in commercial DFH sales — doors, frames, hardware, and ideally commercial locksmithing or hardware distribution
- You're naturally curious about people and industries, and you use that curiosity to find angles others miss
- You can read a room, build trust quickly, and communicate with clarity — whether you're on a job site or in a boardroom
- You think in terms of relationships, not just transactions
- You've built a pipeline before and you know what it takes: outreach, field visits, referrals, follow-through
- You have a valid driver's license and enjoy being in the field regularly
Even better if you bring
- Existing relationships with GCs, subcontractors, or facilities teams in the San Diego area
- Experience in commercial construction, retrofit, or facilities upgrades
- Familiarity with door hardware systems, access control, or locksmithing products and applications
This role is right for you if...
- You're energized by influence, not just activity
- You want ownership over your outcomes and your approach
- You think long-term about relationships but move fast on opportunities
- You want to be seen as a market expert — not just a vendor
- You're comfortable being entrepreneurial inside a company that gives you the infrastructure to scale
