Full Job Description

Summary

The Director of Education & Professional Development provides strategic leadership for the Society's education portfolio, ensuring educational programs advance the Society's strategic priorities, strengthen the vascular specialty, and deliver measurable value to members throughout their professional careers. The Director is accountable for the strategy, performance, innovation, and financial stewardship of the Society's educational portfolio, including continuing medical education (CME), professional development, leadership development, digital learning, and educational initiatives delivered through the Vascular Annual Meeting and other learning platforms.

Working collaboratively with physician leaders, councils, committees, and cross-functional staff, the Director ensures educational offerings are evidence-based, learner-centered, financially sustainable, and responsive to the evolving needs of the vascular community. The role serves as the Society's education strategist, balancing member value, educational quality, operational excellence, and business performance.

What you’ll own

Key Accountabilities

The Director is accountable for:

Developing and executing the Society's education strategy in support of all strategic domains.
Leading and continuously improving the Society's education portfolio, including live, online, and enduring educational programs.
Ensuring educational offerings achieve defined learning outcomes, member value, and financial performance.
Maintaining ACCME accreditation and organizational compliance.
Growing educational revenue through innovative products, grants, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships.
Establishing data-driven measures to evaluate portfolio performance, learner outcomes, and return on investment.
Providing financial stewardship through budget development, forecasting, and resource allocation.
Building and leading a high-performing Education team with clear priorities and accountability.
Partnering with physician leaders, volunteer groups, and staff to identify emerging educational needs and opportunities.
Driving innovation in educational technology, learning delivery, and portfolio development to strengthen the Society's competitive position.

What you’ll bring to the job

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in education, healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 10 - 15 years of progressive leadership experience in continuing medical education, professional development, or association education, including experience leading teams and organizational initiatives.
Demonstrated experience partnering with physician leaders, volunteer committees, and cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic education initiatives.
Experience managing budgets, educational portfolios, and business planning within a complex organization.
Expertise in ACCME accreditation, CME requirements, and physician lifelong learning.
Strong understanding of adult learning principles, curriculum design, instructional delivery, and educational outcomes assessment.
Experience developing and growing education programs across multiple learning formats, including live, virtual, hybrid, and enduring education.
Knowledge of educational technologies, learning management systems, and data analytics to support continuous improvement.
Strategic thinker who translates organizational priorities into measurable results.
Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive innovation, and continuously improve programs and processes.
Strong business acumen with experience balancing mission impact, financial stewardship, and operational excellence.
Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams.

Physical Requirements & Environment

Typical home office setting with routine sitting and occasional standing. Routine use of basic office equipment and computer. Occasional lifting required to move and store office or event supplies. Minimal travel to attend conferences and in-person meetings. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required based on business needs. Routine telecommuting is allowed. Occasional travel up to 20% is required for this position.
