Family Law Paralegal

Salary Range

$44,000 – 60,000 + Benefits (Depending on Experience)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Aviso Law has an immediate opening for a Paralegal within its family law division. Responsibilities: Assist with drafting of pleadings, preparing financial statements, calendaring deadlines, coordinating with clients, assist with preparation for hearings, and prepare court filings. Must have familiarity with Colorado Courts E-Filing filing procedures, prior experience with family law, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), ability to prioritize, organize, and manage a full load of family law cases. Pay will be in line with experience, with opportunities for advancement.

Essential Functions

Prepares legal documents such as briefs, and pleadings.
Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
Investigates facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.
Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail.
Prepares affidavits of documents and maintains document file.
Interviews witnesses and summarizes witness statements.
Prepares and organizes trial exhibits.
Proofreads pleadings and briefs drafted by attorney.
Acts as back up for office phones and consultation calls.
Communicates directly with clients
Calendars all critical events and maintains accurate deadline tracking.
Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
Assists firm in management of pro bono and presentation activities.

Work Environment

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
