Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team on a part time split arrangement. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and therapy to diverse patient populations in private practice. Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments utilizing EMR/EHR systems.
- Prescribe and manage medications following HIPAA guidelines and DEA regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment plans.
- Provide psychotherapy and behavioral health interventions tailored to individual patient needs across various settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, or telehealth platforms.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to develop integrated care plans that address physical and mental health needs.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications to promote recovery and resilience.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records (EHR systems) while maintaining compliance with privacy laws such as HIPAA.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing behavioral health practices.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, pre and perinatal, addiction medicine
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, medication administration protocols, and clinical evaluation techniques.
- Kindness
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as PracticeQ preferred
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, mental status exams, and physical examinations when necessary.
- Skilled in crisis intervention techniques such as triage for acute psychiatric emergencies or acute pain management scenarios.
- Experience with telehealth platforms to deliver remote psychiatric services effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education; working knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes is advantageous.
