Scelzi Enterprises, Inc. is looking to hire individuals to assist our painting department in preparing sheet metals, service bodies, flatbeds, and misc. materials for paint. The job requires the candidate to cover bumpers, windows, and trim using masking tape and paper, clean and sand all surfaces, and fill cracks or breaks in surfaces with putty. We will train on the job.
This is a fast-paced job and requires attention to detail as well as good communication skills.
This is a full-time position. Days are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. Occasional Saturdays and overtime can be required. If overtime and/or Saturdays are requested, it will be mandatory.
A high school diploma or GED is required. Automotive body work knowledge and experience is a plus.
Work Environment
This job operates in a shop production environment. Exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures. Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Requires working indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions and/or working outdoors exposed to all weather conditions.
Essential Functions
- Clean floor of beds with wire wheel.
- Clean dirt of body using cleaning materials.
- Use of grinder, putty knife, DA sander, caulking gun to smooth surface.
- Apply bondo and do complete bodywork.
- Mask units/body properly for paint.
- Prep, sand, and touch-up.
- May apply under seal on bodies.
- Read work orders for body specifications.
- Inspect and identify scratches and/or dents, flaws.
- Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
knowledge skills and abilities are:
- Able to work in fast paced environment.
- Able to walk, squat, bend, climb, kneel, crawl, push, pull.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in a team.
- Able to utilize all required safety equipment.
- Able to follow proper safety procedures and guidelines.
- Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye and skin protectors)
- Handle and dispose of hazardous waste properly.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be able to keep area clean.
- Must be able to read work orders.
- Able to lift 50 lbs (periodically)
