Job Overview

We are seeking a partner-level corporate attorney to join SJKP, LLP’s expanding international practice. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the development and management of cross-border transactions and corporate advisory matters.

Candidates should have strong experience advising domestic and international clients on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investments, financing, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and complex commercial transactions. Direct experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements and cross-border transaction documents is strongly preferred.

This position will work closely with the Firm’s global strategy and international practice teams and will play a key role in attracting and advising multinational companies and overseas investors entering the U.S. and Korean markets.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the growth of the Firm’s corporate practice by managing corporate matters, supervising team members, establishing efficient workflows, attracting new clients and supporting business development efforts with multinational companies, overseas investors and other corporate clients.
Advise domestic and international clients on M&A, investments, financing, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements and cross-border transaction documents.
Support overseas investors and multinational clients entering the Korean and U.S. markets.

Required Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Washington, D.C.. Admission to three (3) or more U.S. jurisdictions is strongly preferred, with particular consideration for admission in New York, New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Georgia, Minnesota, Nevada, Texas and Arizona.
Minimum 5 years of substantial experience in corporate transactions, cross-border matters, and corporate advisory work.
Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including overseeing legal teams, supervising junior attorneys, managing client relationships and leading complex transactions or strategic matters
Strong experience in M&A, commercial contracts, investments, financing and regulatory compliance matters
Exceptional drafting, negotiation, research and writing skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex matters under tight deadlines
Experience advising multinational companies, overseas investors or international clients strongly preferred

Preferred Skills and Experiences

Prior AmLaw 100 firm full-time experience.
Experience in Clio or similar practice management systems.
Ability to operate with discretion in reputationally sensitive matters.
Strong adaptability and willingness to work within a dynamic, fast-paced international organization, including the ability to promptly implement instructions and operational directives from the Firm’s headquarters and leadership teams.
