Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Medical Receptionist / Patient Coordinator specialized in Dermatology to join our vibrant healthcare team. This role is vital in creating a welcoming environment for patients while ensuring smooth clinic operations. You will be the first point of contact, managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate medical records. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster positive patient experiences and support clinical staff in delivering exceptional care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow within a fast-paced dermatology practice dedicated to excellence and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes efficiently
Schedule appointments
Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and facilitate medical billing using knowledge of health insurance policies including Medicare and HIPAA compliance
Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems), review documentation for accuracy, and ensure confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent patient service while addressing inquiries promptly

Experience

Prior clinic experience in dermatology or dental settings highly preferred; experience in hospital or healthcare environments is advantageous
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms
Familiarity with medical coding including CPT codes, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, ICD coding practices for accurate billing and documentation review
Proven experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and understanding of health insurance policies including Medicare regulations
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Demonstrated ability to maintain clinical confidentiality while providing outstanding customer service at the front desk
Strong organizational skills with clerical experience involving filing, multi-line phone handling, and appointment scheduling
