Senior HR Generalist
URELL Inc. | Watertown, MA | 100% In-Office | Reports to: Head of xxxxx
About the Role
URELL Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to serve as the in-house anchor for our 74-person team — and to play a meaningful role in maintaining an organized, stable, and responsive HR organization. Working alongside our HR and payroll provider and reporting to senior leadership, you’ll be the trusted resource employees turn to during major life moments, the operational backbone for our HR records and timekeeping, and a key partner in making our HQ a well-organized, professional place to work.
This is a hands-on role for someone with the experience, passion, and drive to bring greater organization and structure to our operations — without the burden of running an entire HR department in isolation. You’ll have strong leadership support, experience as a competent HR service provider, and real runway to shape how HR is delivered.
What You’ll DoEmployee Life Event Support
- Guide employees through benefits-related life events: aging off parental coverage at 26, Medicare transitions at 65, marriage, new dependents, qualifying status changes, leaves of absence, separations, and other transitions
- Serve as the empathetic, knowledgeable first point of contact for benefits and HR questions
- Coordinate enrollments, terminations, and changes with carriers and our outsourced HR partner
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate new hire onboarding from offer acceptance through the first 90 days — paperwork, benefits enrollment, system access, equipment, and required new-hire reporting
- Deliver new-hire orientation so every employee starts with a clear understanding of URELL’s policies, benefits, expectations, and culture
- Manage offboarding logistics — exit conversations, final pay coordination, COBRA, benefits termination, system access removal, and equipment return
- Maintain offer letter and standard employment-related document templates and ensure consistent execution
HR Records & Compliance
- Own the integrity, accuracy, and security of all HR records — both physical and electronic
- Maintain personnel files in accordance with federal, state, and other applicable requirements that vary across multiple states where URELL operates and staff reside
- Ensure timely, accurate documentation of hires, changes, leaves, and separations
- Support audits, reporting, and required filings
Workers’ Compensation & Employment Matters
- Manage workers’ compensation matters — incident intake, carrier coordination, return-to-work documentation, and any required OSHA recordkeeping
- Respond to state unemployment inquiries and separation determinations across the states where URELL operates
- Coordinate with outside counsel and senior leadership on EEOC, MCAD, or similar agency matters as they arise
- Maintain required federal and state employment posters and notices across URELL locations
Vendor & Payroll Coordination
- Act as the primary internal liaison with our HR and payroll services provider.
- Execute each payroll cycle to ensure it runs smoothly — proactively recognizing, escalating, and resolving issues before they affect employees
- Audit payroll outputs for accuracy and serve as the internal point of accountability for timely, correct pay
- Manage the vendor relationships to ensure URELL is getting full value from the partnerships
- Recommend adjustments to benefits to improve our ability to attract and retain qualified employees
Timekeeping & Accruals
- Educate and train hourly staff and their managers on timekeeping policies and expectations, and salaried staff and their managers on timekeeping and approvals in the context of PTO, sick time, etc.
- Consistently and fairly enforce timekeeping standards across the company
- Monitor accruals (PTO, vacation, sick time, MA Earned Sick Time, MA Paid Family & Medical Leave, etc.) and ensure correct tracking and usage
- Reconcile timekeeping data and resolve issues before they affect payroll
Internal HR Site & Digital Records
- Maintain URELL’s internal HR website/portal as the go-to source for employee resources (currently SharePoint and likely to move to HR platform)
- Enhance and expand the site over time — add policies, FAQs, forms, benefits guides, and self-service tools
- Keep electronic records and digital documentation organized, accessible, and current
Headquarters Operations
- Serve as a welcoming, professional point of contact for visiting employees, clients, and vendors as required from time to time
- Partner with leadership to ensure HQ runs as a well-organized, productive base for the sales team and other departments
- Occasionally support the sales organization with administrative and operational needs at HQ, including coordinating logistics for sales meetings, trainings, and visiting team members in collaboration with Sales team
Performance Management
- Administer URELL’s annual performance review cycle — distribute role-specific review templates, track completion, coordinate calibration discussions with leadership, and ensure reviews are completed on schedule
- Support managers with performance-related conversations, documentation, and improvement plans as needed
- Help maintain and evolve URELL’s review templates and process over time
Policy & Culture
- Help draft, communicate, and consistently enforce HR and workplace policies
- Partner with leadership to foster a well-organized, professional, and positive environment
