Construction Project Manager – Custom Residential

Location: Charlotte, NC (In-person)
Job Type: Full-time | Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift

About the Role

Whitlock Builders is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee high-end custom residential construction and renovation projects.

THE PROJECT MANAGER assumes all responsibilities related to overseeing, managing, and executing all tasks associated with successfully completing new construction and renovation projects. The successful candidate must be highly skilled at setting and managing all competing priorities at various stages of completion at multiple sites in an environment requiring acute and uncompromising attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight & Site Management

Direct and supervise job sites, ensuring quality control, safety, and cleanliness
Schedule, coordinate, and oversee subcontractors and vendors
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure projects meet company standards and client expectations
Maintain accurate daily field reports, project documentation, and job site logs

Client & Architect Communication

Conduct site meetings with clients and architects; follow up with written documentation
Manage RFIs, shop drawings, and project submittals in a timely manner
Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders throughout the project

Job Planning & Preparation

Prepare material take-offs and place orders accurately and promptly
Apply for and obtain building permits
Maintain plans, specifications, production schedules, and customer task/selection lists
Select, approve, and coordinate vendors and subcontractors

Budgeting & Financial Management

Prepare project budgets, track change orders, and update budget forecasts
Review, code, and process invoices for accuracy
Track customer allowances, reconcile final billing, and monitor job costs regularly

Success Criteria

Demonstrates consistent project planning, scheduling, and execution
Maintains accurate project records, approvals, and job cost tracking
Achieves high customer satisfaction ratings
Proactively resolves issues and communicates outcomes to stakeholders

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Minimum 10 years’ experience in custom residential construction project management (required)
Current OSHA 10 Safety Certification (required)
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
