Full Job Description

Under the supervision of the Floral Design Manager, Floral Designers produce and design creative and appealing arrangements in a timely manner while maintaining an acceptable profit margin.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

Design and produce floral arrangements and plants in quantity while maintaining quality in a timely manner.
Recognize and maintain cooler needs, sales needs, and the rotation of coolers.
Awareness of and ability to create current trends and design styles for the season or holiday.
Ensure proper use of primary and complementary colors when creating designs.
Provide accurate descriptions of designs to customers when needed.
Create arrangements that are accurately and appropriately priced for purchase.
Possess or learn all aspects of design (quality, color, and balance).
Ability to design in basic categories: funeral, plants, web/wire items, boutonnieres/corsages, Christmas trees, holiday designs, wedding work, traditional, modern, exotic, tropical, etc.
Maintain a personal flower supply bucket while working and return products to appropriate places at the end of the day.
Ability to appropriately gauge the quality and usability of flowers and plants to ensure designs meet quality expectations.
Become knowledgeable of current pricing to be able to use Billy Heroman’s design model, using appropriate price lists and formulas.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent
1 year related experience required
Knowledge of many different varieties of fresh flowers and plants preferred

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in an environment with varying climates. The individual performing this job must be able to perform his or her job duties while exposed to varying temperatures, including working in a storage cooler (approx. 35 degrees).

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires prolonged standing and walking, with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time and requires the ability to work flexible hours, even on last-minute notice, including evenings, weekends, and especially floral holidays.
