Maintenance Technician

Spartan Dyers, Inc.

The position of the Maintenance Technician is a very important element to overall production at Spartan Dyers, Inc. The associate would be working in the dyehouse department which consist of drums, chemicals, and machinery.

The machinery must be actively maintained to ensure good working condition. The Maintenance Technician is a vital part of the Maintenance Department and reports to the Plant Engineer (Pete). His/her shift must be flexible enough to accomplish the demands of the Dyehouse department, starting at 6:00 AM through the end of the department’s scheduled workday. The Hours will be set by management. The following is a list of expected requirements for this job.

Characteristics and Experience

Must have a solid background in mechanical maintenance, rotating shafts, etc.
Must be able to work with limited supervision and be able to multitask.
Must possess good communication skills both written and oral.
Must possess strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and mathematical skills.
Must possess good knowledge of hand tools and their proper use.
Must have a working knowledge of motor controls. Must be able to align shafts and direct coupling systems.
Must be safety conscious.
Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs., stand for most of the shift, bend to access all equipment and walk throughout the department.
Must be a team player.
Must have a basic knowledge of plumbing or piping system – for the dye machines.
Must be detail-oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

Record and catalog parts.

Must complete lift truck training.
Must have own tools and keep them in good condition.
Must be willing to work July 4th week and Christmas weeks.
The person in this position will perform required PMs.
Recommend, schedule, and perform maintenance on dye machines as needed to optimize performance.
Have a sense of urgency regarding any safety related issues. Take appropriate action to eliminate the safety or tagout any unsafe equipment.

Conduct routine check on all machines to get feedback on their machine. Will be responsible for operational readiness of each machine.
Will submit a weekly machine status report to Production Supervisor (Martin) and Plant Engineer.

Must work with and assist Production Supervisor as needed.
Must be a team player.

Establish a record of the maintenance along with cost of parts needed.

Responsible for any other duties as directed by your supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
