Job description:

Homestead Animal Hospital & Urgent Care is a full-service animal hospital. We are open 7 days/week 7a-6p Monday-Friday and 8a-5p weekends. We see a healthy mix of general practice, specialty surgeries, emergencies, and rescue medicine. Our team is committed to providing an individualistic approach to each patient. We are currently seeking an individual to work full-time as an Overnight Veterinary Technician. Applicants interested in joining the team should share our core values of communication, customer service, compassion, and courtesy. We are looking for people who can multitask, have a positive attitude, and bring a friendly and welcoming demeanor. You will utilize all of your technical skills to the fullest. Most hospitalized patients overnight are critical cases which require an experienced Technician.

The position is paid hourly and the rate is competitive based on experience.

Shift Details:

Full Time overnight position from closing (5/6pm) to opening (7/8am).

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting veterinarians and fellow technicians in daily tasks
Patient care and monitoring
Kennel cleaning and maintenance as needed
Client communication and service
Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment

TOP PRIORITY: HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS, BOARDERS, CLEANLINESS OF THE HOSPITAL

Persons to report to: Department Lead, Practice Manager, DVM.

Specific Duties:

Ensures the hospital is clean and smells fresh for the next morning day staff to start the day with a clean environment.
Cleans and sanitizes all cages, runs, wards, exam rooms, related treatment areas, and general hospital cleaning as needed.
Ensure all cat boxes are clean.
Gives treatments/medications on time to hospitalized patients per the treatment board in Pulse.
Gives medications on time to boarders that are prescribed medication.
Play or spend quality time with hospitalized patients or boarders for enrichment.
Recognizes and records any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of any hospitalized animal; observes animals recovering from anesthesia;
Feeds each animal as prescribed by the attending D.V.M. and records appetites; keeps kitchen area clean and neat;

Hospital Cleanliness Responsibilities: Vacuuming; mopping; trash; maintaining all sinks; cleaning exam rooms, laundry; kennel cleaning; proper dilutions for cleaning solutions; cleaning windows and doors; replenishing supplies (including paper towels, garbage bags,); cleaning break area; knowledge of patient isolation protocols; and overall maintenance (both inside and outside the hospital) of the sights, smells and sounds of the hospital.
