ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Site Manager
POSITION LOCATON: Varies
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
HOURS: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This time frame may change as the need arises.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Home Delivered Meals Driver is responsible for safely operating an assigned MOWFNI company vehicle to deliver meals to older adults on assigned routes. The Driver follows route instructions, maintains food safety and sanitation standards, keeps the assigned vehicle clean, uses required delivery technology, and communicates participant, route, food, or vehicle concerns to the Site Manager. This position supports the Home Delivered Meals Program by helping participants receive nutritious meals, respectful service, and regular wellness contact.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to work as scheduled in appropriate attire and ready to begin assigned duties.
- Check in with the Site Manager and confirm the assigned route, delivery schedule, and assigned company vehicle. Drivers may be assigned to operate a MOWFNI company car or company truck, depending on the route and operational needs.
- Review assigned deliveries in the ServTracker mobile application and discuss any special instructions with the Site Manager.
- Complete required vehicle checks, documentation, and reporting in accordance with MOWFNI fleet procedures before operating the assigned company vehicle.
- Start the assigned company vehicle and complete any required pre-route preparation.
- When assigned to operate a company truck, turn on heating and/or cooling units prior to loading, as applicable. Time needed to prepare the truck for loading will depend on weather and route needs.
- Load the assigned company vehicle according to the route sheet and required food safety procedures. When using a company truck, place hot meals in the heated section and cold items in the refrigerated unit.
- Take and record temperatures as needed before departure and while on route.
- Clean up the work area before leaving the nutrition site.
- Be prepared to depart the nutrition site at the time determined by the Site Manager to ensure timely delivery and adherence to the daily delivery schedule.
- Use ServTracker to navigate assigned routes, complete all scheduled meal deliveries, document delivery outcomes, record participant or delivery-related notes, and electronically verify completion of each delivery.
- Practice required sanitation and food safety procedures each day.
- Complete all assigned meal deliveries and follow Site Manager instructions regarding any forgotten, missing, or undelivered food, including returning to the site or route when required.
- Do not enter participant homes.
- Report any participant safety concerns, suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, unsafe conditions, route hazards, incidents, complaints, suggestions, service requests, or other participant-related concerns to the Site Manager immediately and complete required documentation.
- Notify the Site Manager of any potential problems involving food, the assigned company vehicle, delivery route, delivery schedule, or delivery conditions.
- Report all accidents, whether major or minor, to the Site Manager immediately.
- Report any vehicle difficulties, maintenance concerns, or potential vehicle safety issues to the Site Manager immediately.
- Follow all MOWFNI rules, procedures, safety expectations, fleet requirements, accident reporting requirements, cell phone use requirements, drug-free workplace requirements, and company vehicle use requirements.
- Treat participants, volunteers, staff, and community partners with courtesy and professionalism.
- Check with the Site Manager before leaving for the day.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
- Operate the assigned company vehicle safely and carefully to help prevent accidents, damage, and unnecessary wear.
- Complete and submit required vehicle condition reports in the Enterprise app before operating the assigned company vehicle.
- Record required odometer readings and respond to maintenance alerts in accordance with MOWFNI fleet procedures.
- Maintain proper air in tires and check tire condition and lights regularly.
- Check oil, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, coolant/anti-freeze, and other required fluid levels weekly, as applicable to the assigned vehicle.
- Refuel the vehicle as needed using the assigned fuel card and required fuel procedures.
- Follow scheduled maintenance requirements and MOWFNI fleet procedures for the assigned company vehicle.
- Report any unusual noise, smell, warning light, handling issue, or other sign of vehicle trouble to the Site Manager immediately.
- Report all accidents, vehicle damage, scratches, dents, or damage to the property of others to the Site Manager immediately and complete required reporting.
VEHICLE CLEANING
- Keep the assigned company vehicle clean and sanitary at all times, inside and out, including the cab/passenger area and meal/cargo area.
- Do not smoke or vape in the assigned company vehicle.
- Clean spills inside the assigned company vehicle daily, or immediately when needed.
- Remove trash, food debris, and personal items from the assigned company vehicle at the end of each shift.
- Wash the assigned company vehicle when needed, including mats.
- Keep the parking area around the assigned company vehicle clean and free of debris or hazards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and have at least three years of licensed driving experience.
- Must have and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with MOWFNI policy.
- Must successfully complete required background checks, motor vehicle record checks, and driver approvals.
- Must be able to safely operate an assigned MOWFNI company vehicle, which may be a company car or company truck depending on the assigned route and operational needs.
- Must be able to use applications on a mobile phone, including ServTracker and required fleet applications.
- Must be able to read and write, read maps or route information, and follow directions.
- Must have knowledge of food storage and handling procedures, including hot/hot, cold/cold, and FIFO, First In, First Out.
- Must have knowledge of proper sanitation procedures.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
- Must be able to interact positively and professionally with staff, volunteers, and program participants.
- Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and follow Site Manager instructions while completing assigned routes.
