Full Job Description

Medical Assistant - Four 10 Hour Shifts - Monday - Friday

Position Summary

Responsible for rooming patients and taking history, assisting physician, communicating pathology results with patients, suture removal, ordering medical supplies, calling in patient prescriptions, laundry, cleaning and preparing surgical instruments, packs, and rooms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Takes patient to exam room, records problem and specific reason for visit, updates allergy list, updates current medication list, and readies patient for doctor. Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring that patient charts are complete and in order.

· Assists doctor during visit and/or surgery/cosmetic treatment.

· Prepares and cleans exam rooms for next patient.

· Cleans and prepares instruments, surgical packs, trays, and rooms.

· Stocks and organizes exam rooms and surgical rooms. Orders and inventories all needed medical supplies.

· Organizes and distributes patient samples.

· Manages pathology processing and tracking. Arranges for tissue biopsies to be processed at the appropriate lab. Inputs biopsy data into computer. Is also responsible for follow up to insure all information is received by lab, physician, and patient with in 10 days of receiving biopsy report. Ensures that biopsy results are entered into the computer, as the Path Tracking file is our official tumor registry.

· Contacts patients regarding pathology results, answers questions, and schedules surgery or may transfer patient to front office for scheduling of surgery.

· Generates report for billing of biopsies.

· Readies patient for surgery and gives required patient consent.

· Administers operative bandaging and wound care instructions.

· Maintains smoothly flowing schedule and triage patients.

· The employee must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.

· Also assists with: Mohs lab and Front Office/Reception as needed.

· Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
