Full Job Description

**Overview:**

The Mediations Team in the Calendaring Department is responsible for scheduling and coordinating civil cases for mediation. They serve as liaisons between our firm and private (or court-appointed) mediators, ensuring effective communication and scheduling. Key responsibilities include coordinating schedules with both Plaintiff and Defense counsel, contacting private or court-appointed mediators, and filing mediation-related court pleadings.

**Responsibilities:**

Assigns tasks to others based on California Code of Civil Procedure regarding Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
Communicates with private mediator to coordinate matters for mediation
Communicates with Opposing Counsels’ offices to coordinate matters for mediation
Communicates with in-house attorneys to coordinate matters for mediation
Assist with maintaining organization of all spreadsheets used by the Calendaring Department and Mediations Team.

· Drafts and files court pleadings required for mediation (mediation briefs, ADR stipulations, etc.)

**Qualifications:**

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional legal education or certification is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent time management abilities and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, and external parties.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines.

Preferred:

Previous experience as a calendar clerk or in a similar role within a law firm or legal setting.
Proficiency in using calendar management software and other relevant legal software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, legal case management systems).
Familiarity with court rules, procedures, and filing requirements.
Bilingual (English & Spanish)
