Full Job Description

Job Summary

Florida Eye Associates is seeking an in office experienced Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to join our accounting and revenue cycle team in Melbourne, FL.

This position is responsible for medical billing, insurance follow-up, payment posting, claim denials, appeals, authorizations, benefits verification, patient statements, collections, and insurance aging. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical billing processes, third-party payers, Medicare, CPT, ICD-10, HCFA 1500, UB04 claim forms, HIPAA requirements, and revenue cycle workflows.

Experience with ophthalmology billing, ASC facility billing, EMA software, Medicare, insurance collections, and payment posting is highly preferred. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow within an established medical practice and continue developing their skills in medical billing and revenue cycle operations.

Compensation and Growth

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

· Submit accurate and timely claims to primary, secondary, and tertiary payers

· Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims

· Prepare and submit appeals, corrected claims, and claim resubmissions

· Verify patient information, insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, copays, and deductibles

· Request authorizations from insurance companies and primary providers

· Post patient and insurance payments accurately to the correct line items

· Reconcile payment reports, deposits, remittance advices, and related billing activity

· Generate patient statements and invoices showing prior payments and remaining balances

· Manage patient balances, collection balances, insurance aging, and unallocated funds

· Communicate professionally with patients, insurance carriers, providers, and internal team members

· Review claims for accurate patient data, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and payer requirements

· Manage transactions across multiple entities

· Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer rules, privacy requirements, and applicable billing regulations

· Assist with revenue cycle reporting, account follow-up, and other billing department needs

Qualifications

· Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience

· Experience with medical billing, collections, payment posting, insurance follow-up, and revenue cycle

· Knowledge of Medicare, third-party payers, CPT, ICD-10, HCFA 1500, UB04, HIPAA, insurance benefits, and appeal processes

· Experience with ASC facility billing preferred

· Ophthalmology billing experience preferred

· EMA software experience a plus

· Strong computer skills and comfort working with EHR and claims software

· Excellent follow-up, organization, and attention to detail

· Ability to communicate clearly with patients, insurance companies, and coworkers

· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

· Caring, patient, professional, and friendly attitude

· Team player with a positive attitude
