Full Job Description

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Assistant

FLSA STATUS: Non- Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

Effective Date: 07/26
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance

Primary Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Assistant is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a loving and safe environment for all of our residents, while helping each of them to achieve their maximum potential. We are committed to be a resource for the families of our residents who have entrusted us with their care. We will empower our staff by providing them with a motivating and supportive work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Assisting with maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the residents, visitors, and staff.

2) Patch, repair, and replace drywall and paint as necessary.

3) Complete work orders daily.

4) Comply with safety standards.

5) Clean carpets, furniture, including spot removal and use carpet extractor.

6) Basic knowledge of HVAC.

7) Complete routine inspections of vacated units and quarterly unit inspections for safety compliance.

8) Attend all in-services as required.

9) Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

1) At least (2) two years of experience in maintenance.

2) Ability to handle multiple priorities.

3) Competent in organizational, time management skills.

4) Proficiency in computer skills, TELS.

5) Must have compassion and empathy for seniors and desire to work with seniors.

6) Self-directed, demonstrating initiative and follow-through

7) Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

8) Must have the ability to read, write and follow written direction in the English language.

9) Ability to timely and effectively follow up on all necessary requests from residents and families.

10) Maintain and encourage a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation.

11) Ability to handle stressful situations and work well under pressure.

12) Ability to recognize and communicate problems with Executive Director/Environmental Service Director.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, talk and hear. The employee will occasionally be required to climb stairs. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to touch, handle and feel, and is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Works in both interior and external areas with exposure to season-related weather conditions. Requires walking, standing, and sitting up to 100% of the time.
