Full Job Description

<Job Summary>
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the billing and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across various financial systems. Your expertise in accounting software, medical billing, and financial concepts will support our organization’s revenue cycle management and compliance efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to efficient financial operations while developing your skills in a fast-paced environment committed to excellence.

<Responsibilities>

Prepare and process invoices using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments, following up on overdue accounts, and reconciling discrepancies through detailed account analysis.
Perform data entry tasks with precision, including journal entries, CPT coding for medical billing, ICD-10 coding, and double-entry bookkeeping.
Conduct account reconciliation to verify the integrity of financial data and support audit readiness in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations.
Assist with the revenue cycle management process by monitoring the entire billing cycle from patient or client data collection to payment posting.
Collaborate with medical professionals and insurance providers to resolve billing issues, negotiate payment plans, and improve collection rates.
Support governmental and non-profit accounting functions by ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
Utilize technical accounting skills to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and contribute to month-end closing activities.

<Qualifications>

Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and revenue recognition.
Knowledge of medical billing processes, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and medical terminology is highly desirable.
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and governmental or non-profit accounting practices.
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing proficiency).
Effective negotiation skills combined with excellent phone etiquette for customer service interactions.
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
