Full Job Description

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP US SERVE THE WORLDS BEST SALMON?

We are looking for a 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) Food Safety and Quality Control Technician for our salmon processing plant in Wayne NJ.

Bakkafrost is one of the world’s leading salmon farming companies and we are raising probably the best salmon in the world. We are operating a brand-new processing facility in Wayne NJ, and we are looking for new colleagues to help us ensure that the salmon stays the best while we prepare to ship it customer in the US.

Job responsibilities include:

- Perform incoming raw material inspections

- Conduct in-process product checks:

Weight
Temperature
Appearance
Packaging Integrity

- Execute finished product inspections & release checks

- Monitor CCP's in real-time on the floor

- Collect samples for:

Micro Testing
Shelf-life
Lab submission

- Perform metal detector checks / verification runs

- Conduct line checks:

Label accuracy
Coding / date verification

- Verify sanitation pre-op checks

- Document all results in:

QC logs
Production Records

- Monitor and document employee compliance with personal hygiene and company policies

- Supports internal and external audits as required including the preparation of audit documentation and follow up with audit findings and preparation of corrective actions.

- Assists the Quality Manager in writing and updating the Food Safety Plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other quality assurance documents as needed.

- Monitor and document product safety and quality throughout processing to ensure compliance with requirements and product specifications

- Monitor and document compliance with programs related to pest control, utensils and uniforms

- Conduct and document internal cGMP audit and report non-conformance/deviations

- Conduct and document daily quality control checks on raw material and finished products

- Maintain routine environmental monitoring program and sampling for laboratory analysis

- Perform sanitation verification and calibration of equipment, such as scales and metal detector

- Correct recording and filing relevant documentations to support BRC certification

Qualifications:

- We expect you to have relevant experience from a similar FSQC position

- Bachelors degree in biology or food sciences

- A solid understanding of HACCP with additional exposure to GMP, FDA preferred have or
willingness to achieve HACCP and PCQI certifications.

- Effective communication skills in both English and Spanish

- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to
prioritize, manage time well, multitask, and be deadline oriented
