Full Job Description

Position Title: Title I Academic Counselor

Organization: FACTS Educational Services a Nelnet Company

Position Summary

The Title I Academic Counselor serves as an instructional specialist who provides academic, social-emotional, and student support services aligned with Title I program requirements. This role works directly with students during the regular school day, before and after school, and during summer programs. The counselor collaborates closely with school leadership, teachers, families, and FACTS Educational Services staff to support student success through targeted counseling, supplemental instruction, and data-informed interventions.

Key Responsibilities

· Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports students’ academic, social-emotional, and personal growth.

· Provide academic and student counseling services that promote student achievement, goal-setting, and positive behavior.

· Deliver supplemental instructional and counseling support through push-in and pull-out models during the school day and/or after-school programs.

· Implement Title I–funded student support and educational/emotional programs in accordance with federal Title I regulations, district guidelines, and FACTS Educational Services’ policies and contract requirements.

· Collaborate with classroom teachers and instructional staff to support student learning and align interventions with core instruction.

· Use assessment data, progress monitoring tools, and student performance data to inform counseling strategies and instructional recommendations.

· Provide recommendations to school leadership, teachers, parents, and district partners regarding student growth, instructional adjustments, and support strategies.

· Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant counseling documentation, student records, and required Title I compliance reports.

· Establish and support strong parent and family engagement practices that encourage student participation and success.

· Build positive, professional relationships with school administrators, colleagues, families, and community partners to strengthen the school community.

Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (required).

· Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling, or a related field (preferred).

Experience Requirements

· Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students in a school, counseling, or comparable educational setting.

· Demonstrated experience providing academic, student, or social-emotional counseling to children or adolescents (required).

· Experience working with diverse student populations, including English Language Learners, is preferred.

Certification / Licensure Requirements

· Valid counseling certification, license, or credential (e.g., School Counselor Certification, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or state-equivalent counseling credential) required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe, as determined by district or state guidelines.

· Must meet all state, district, and program requirements to provide counseling services in a school setting.

· Strong commitment to student success and educational equity.

· Knowledge of and ability to comply with federal programs, including Title I policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.

· Ability to collect, monitor, analyze, and use student data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform decision-making.

· Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to compliance and confidentiality.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiency with technology and data-tracking systems.

· Ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

· Demonstrated ability to build positive professional relationships with students, families, school staff, and external partners.

Work Environment

This position may require work during the regular school day, before and after school hours, and during summer programs, based on school and program needs.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
