Full Job Description

Job Summary

A part-time Accountant opportunity is available with a government agency in Calabasas, CA. This temp-to-hire role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger, financial reporting, payroll, and grant accounting experience who is looking for a stable, mission-driven work environment.

The Accountant will support the accounting team with key financial operations, including journal entries, ledger maintenance, year-end account review, financial statement preparation, payroll, grant spending oversight, and audit support. This is a great opportunity to contribute to public sector financial accountability while working with a collaborative team that values accuracy, compliance, professionalism, and service to the community.

This role offers a consistent part-time schedule and the opportunity to support meaningful government accounting work in a structured and team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
Perform year-end account reviews and assist with financial close processes.
Prepare financial statements and support accurate financial reporting.
Process payroll and assist with related accounting functions.
Monitor grant spending to help ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Assist outside auditors by preparing schedules, documentation, and account support.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $36.00 to $45.00 per hour.
Job type: Temp-to-hire.
Schedule: Part-time, 2 days per week.
Preferred schedule: Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Location: Calabasas, CA.
