Full Job Description

This role supports the financial operations and reporting for a Houston-based Accounting team, focusing on used machinery sales and financial analysis. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with internal departments and partnership entities to ensure accurate inventory reconciliation and financial reporting. This position offers the opportunity to engage in diverse accounting tasks, including audit preparation and financial analysis, making a significant impact on the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform costing and inventory reconciliations for used machinery sales, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards.
Report and file Heavy Equipment Inventory Tax (HEIT) and Motor Vehicle Inventory Tax (MVIT) monthly to maintain regulatory compliance.
Reconcile Accounts Receivable, Notes Receivable, and Bad Debt Allowance accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Maintain and reconcile Miscellaneous Accruals, contributing to the overall integrity of financial records.
Prepare monthly gross profit and expense analysis for Used Machinery and partnership divisions to support strategic decision-making.
Assist with general ledger, internal reporting, and month-end close activities to ensure timely financial reporting.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BBA preferred) is required to ensure a solid foundation in accounting principles.
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience is necessary to effectively handle the responsibilities of the role.
Strong reconciliation and financial analysis abilities are essential for maintaining accurate financial records.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables, is crucial for data analysis.
Experience with QuickBooks is a plus, providing familiarity with accounting software commonly used in the industry.
