Remote Bookkeeper, Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist

Fully Remote | 32 Hours Per Week | $22–$26 per Hour DOE | Immediate Start

About the Position

Bookkeeping by Bonnie, Inc. is a busy and growing bookkeeping company seeking an experienced, dependable, and solution-focused professional to join our team.

This position will support bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts payable responsibilities for multiple clients. Because this is a fully remote position, the ideal candidate must be highly self-motivated, organized, resourceful, and comfortable working independently.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, meets deadlines, and actively works toward solutions when challenges arise. We do not expect every employee to know every answer immediately, but we do expect team members to research issues, use available resources, ask thoughtful questions when necessary, and follow through.

Primary Responsibilities

Complete routine bookkeeping for multiple clients
Categorize and review financial transactions
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Process payroll accurately and on time
Review payroll information and identify unusual or missing items
Manage accounts payable and vendor bills
Schedule and record vendor payments
Follow up on missing information and outstanding items
Maintain accurate client records and supporting documentation
Update spreadsheets and internal tracking systems
Identify discrepancies, errors, and missing information
Research bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts payable issues
Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and team members
Manage multiple deadlines and recurring responsibilities
Follow established processes and recommend improvements when appropriate
Protect confidential client, employee, payroll, and financial information

Required Qualifications

Minimum of two years of professional bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounting support, or similar experience
Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping principles
Proficiency with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel
Experience reconciling bank and credit card accounts
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
Strong research, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
Reliable high-speed internet access
A reliable, working laptop or desktop computer capable of running the required software
A private, professional workspace appropriate for handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working for a bookkeeping or accounting firm
Experience supporting multiple clients or companies
Experience with QuickBooks Online
Experience processing payroll through Gusto
Experience managing accounts payable
Intermediate or advanced spreadsheet skills
Experience identifying and correcting bookkeeping discrepancies
Experience working in a deadline-driven client-service environment

Experience with every platform is not required, but candidates must be comfortable learning new software, researching unfamiliar features, and navigating multiple systems throughout the workday.

Schedule and Compensation

Approximately 32 hours per week
Fully remote
Starting pay of $22–$26 per hour, depending on experience
Immediate start
