High School Academic Advisor – Academic Planning & College Application Counseling

The Academic Advisor at Willamette Valley Academy (WVA) plays a key role in guiding students through their academic journey and preparing them for selective college admissions. This position bridges academic advising, college application counseling, and curriculum design to ensure every student thrives in WVA’s STEM-focused learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise middle & high school students on academic planning, college preparation, and excurriculum exploration, with a focus on STEM pathways.
Provide individualized guidance on college applications, including essay development, portfolio preparation, and interview readiness.
Collaborate with faculty to design and refine a rigorous, well-sequenced high school curriculum that supports advanced STEM learning and aligns with college expectations.
Monitor student progress to ensure academic readiness and provide support or enrichment opportunities as needed.
Facilitate workshops and family meetings on college admissions trends, financial aid, and academic planning.
Maintain strong relationships with universities and stay current on admissions policies, competitive programs, and evolving expectations in STEM education.
Support WVA’s mission to nurture curiosity, creativity, and excellence through a balance of advanced academics and personal growth.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree required; Or Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering or STEM related fields with at least 2 years college application counselling experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in college advising, academic counseling, or high school curriculum design.
Strong understanding of STEM education pathways and college admissions for competitive universities.
Excellent communication, organization, and mentoring skills.
A genuine passion for helping students discover and pursue their academic and personal goals.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $45.00 - $75.00 per hour
