Full Job Description

POSITION: Adventure Tourism Lead Guide

PAY RATE: $18.00/hr - $20/hr

JOB TYPE: Part-time, Seasonal

Rail Explorers Guides lead guests on scenic outdoor railroad rides using our top-of-the-line, electric-assisted rail bikes – ensuring safe, timely tours and a 5-star customer experience!

Successful guides are comfortable working outside and in nature, physically active, positive, outgoing, and have excellent customer service skills. Flexible start/end dates and flexible weekly schedules are available and extensive training is provided. Advancement is also possible within the company – Rail Explorers prefers to promote from within.

Responsibilities:

Pedaling Rail Explorer vehicles, with motor assist, on 4-6 mile (8-12 miles round trip) excursions (2-4 tours per day).
Greeting and communicating with customers.
Safely rolling and manipulating Rail Explorer vehicles on foot.
Performing physical work outdoors, in the elements.
Understanding emergency protocol, assessing situations clearly and quickly and applying appropriate response.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment in a team setting.
Maintain a high level of professionalism in customer service in accordance with the Rail Explorers Code of Ethics.
Learn and maintain a high level of rail and road crossing safety and basic maintenance of Rail Explorer vehicles - training provided.
Speaking in front of guests - approximately 40-60 guests per tour, following a script.
Opportunity for promotion and pay raises based on experience and length of employment.

Qualifications:

Required: Available for 30+ hours a week through November
Required: Flexible availability (7:30am - 3:30Pm AM shift/3:30pm - 11pm PM shift)
Required: Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Required: Ability to perform physical labor (lift minimum of 50lbs).
Preferred: Customer service experience, 1-2 years.
Preferred: Outdoor work experience, 2 years (or 12seasons, if seasonal).
Preferred : CPR & First Aid Certification (provided)
Preferred: Driver's License.
