Media Planner

Department: Media Planning & Strategy
Reports To: Director of Media

Location: Fully Remote - must be located in the Eastern Time Zone (U.S.)
Travel: Minimal travel to the Greater Boston, MA area, primarily for in-person team meetings and team events (travel expenses reimbursed by the company)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time
Experience Level: 3+ years in media strategy, planning, and buying

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Media Planner to play a key role in our fast-paced advertising and communications agency. You will be responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing media plans that support client objectives and deliver strong results. Your understanding of the media landscape, combined with hands-on experience across key platforms and tools, will enable you to build effective campaigns that reach the right audiences at the right time. You must be comfortable collaborating with internal teams and presenting your work and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders

Responsibilities

Media Strategy & Planning

Collaborate with account teams to understand client objectives and compliance requirements and develop aligned media strategies
Research and analyze target audiences, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes
Recommend appropriate, compliant media channels and platforms to reach defined audiences
Develop detailed media plans outlining budgets, timelines, and performance metrics (KPIs)

Media Buying & Optimization

Execute accurate platform setups across advertising channels, including Google Ads, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), X, programmatic platforms, and Out-of-Home (OOH). (An understanding of healthcare advertising guidelines is a plus.)
Plan and buy media across:
Digital: Google Ads, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), X, programmatic
Traditional: TV, radio, print
Out-of-Home (OOH)
Monitor and optimize campaigns in-flight to improve performance while maintaining compliance
Track pacing, performance, and spend to ensure budget accuracy
Analyze results and apply insights to future planning and optimization

Vendor Management & Collaboration

Manage media budgets and track spending against approved plans
Coordinate with media vendors to negotiate placements, pricing, and added value
Maintain strong, professional relationships with media partners
Work closely with project management, account, and creative teams to ensure campaigns align with strategy, messaging, and compliance standard

Client Communication

Present media plans, recommendations, and performance results clearly and professionally
Explain media strategies, tactics, and optimizations in a compliant, client-appropriate manner
Provide regular status updates and respond to client questions
Translate performance data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making

Required Qualifications

Experience

Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in media strategy, planning, and buying
Experience managing live media campaigns and budgets; prior work in healthcare is helpful but not required.

Technical & Platform Skills

Hands-on setup, negotiation, and management of:
Google Ads
Meta (Facebook/Instagram)
X
Programmatic platforms
Traditional (TV, radio, print)
OOH (out-of-home)
Google Analytics experience (campaign tracking and setup a plus)
Familiarity with healthcare advertising guidelines and platform policies is a plus
Proficiency with media planning, buying, and reporting tools
