HOURS: 30 hours/week, Mon-Fri, from 12:00 pm -6:30 p.m. with Flexibility Required for special activities (early mornings,
afternoons, occasional weekend & evening hours)
LOCATION: Canoga Park Teen Center
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Teen Services Director, the Teen Coordinator is responsible for
overseeing and implementing Teen Center programs, activities, and experiences for youth ages 12–15. Programs should
be innovative, engaging, and relevant while fostering leadership and service skills, social-emotional wellness, and college
and workforce readiness to help members identify and pursue their future goals and career potential.
The Teen Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing targeted middle school initiatives within the broader
Teen Center program model across Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley’s five core program areas including: (1) The
Arts; (2) Education; (3) Health & Wellness; (4) Leadership & Service; and (5) Sports, Fitness & Recreation, while
supporting the priority outcomes of academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship.
Responsibilities include providing mentorship, supervision, and behavior management for members when necessary, as
well as creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all youth participants. The Teen Coordinator is also
responsible for supervising program volunteers, collaborating with program staff on teen outreach initiatives and events,
maintaining program supplies and materials, and supporting the overall upkeep, organization, and daily operations of the
BGCWV Teen Center.
KEY ROLES:
Leadership
1. Serve as a leader and resource on teen trends locally and nationally to lead efforts related to planning,
developing, implementing, and evaluating the organization’s teen programs, services, and activities.
2. Oversee daily Teen Center operations and ensure programs, activities, and environments are safe, engaging,
inclusive, and aligned with the mission and priorities of Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.
3. Provide mentorship, supervision, guidance, and behavior management support for members while fostering a
positive Club culture that promotes safety, belonging, respect, and inclusion.
4. Supervise and support volunteers, interns, and collaborative partners participating in teen programming and
events.
5. Participate in Club staff and advisory meetings to ensure teen interests and concerns are addressed in a manner
consistent with the mission, values, and policies of Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.
6. Serve as a positive adult role model and ambassador for the organization at Club, community, local, and national
events.
7. Provide members with a sense of belonging, recognition, emotional safety, and opportunities for leadership,
growth, and meaningful participation.
8. Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by Club management.
9. Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the employee handbook and
organizational guidelines.

10. Oversees proper and timely record keeping and reporting, including activities and events conducted, daily
participation figures, notable achievements, etc., utilizing the MyClubHub platform and follow-up to families and
youth regarding absences.
11. Manage payment processing for Teen Center families, including collecting and tracking all program-related fees
and managing the cash box assigned.
12. Assist with closing procedures to ensure a safe, organized end-of-day operation.
13. Coordinate with the Gary M. Thomas Clubhouse Coordinator to participate in monthly Clubhouse and Teen
Center meetings and conduct bi-weekly check-ins regarding space usage, facility upkeep, and operational needs.
14. Collaborate with Transportation Services to track teen members in the transportation program, maintain school-
site awareness, ensure clear communication, and support transportation safety and procedures.
Strategic Planning
1. Develop and monitor clearly defined, measurable goals in collaboration with executive leadership and the Teen
Services Director, to meet performance metrics.
2. Provide year-round teen program planning, seek out BGCA funding and program opportunities, and conduct,
monitor, and assess teen interest surveys, focus groups, and youth input to obtain and maintain effective, relevant
programming.
3. Develop and implement middle school outreach initiatives to recruit and retain teen members, increase Teen
Center enrollment and participation to serve an ADA of 30 members, and expand capacity and participation to 50
members; strengthen school partnerships, and support successful transitions into Teen Center programming
within a 5-mile radius.
4. Compile state-of-the-art teen resources, information, and data to address current and future trends affecting
teens.
5. Report metrics and progress towards recruitment strategies at department meetings.
Program Development and Implementation
1. In coordination with the Teen Services Director, develop and structure the strategic vision of the program.
2. Demonstrate a knowledge of, interest in, and respect for the community the Club serves.
3. Collaborate in the creation of monthly program calendars, activities, and service opportunities that ensure teens
are prepared for success and the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
4. Develop and implement innovative, passion-driven programming opportunities in the areas of workforce
readiness, career exploration, education, leadership and service, the arts, health and life skills, sports, fitness and
recreation, and social-emotional wellness using needs-based and interest-based program models.
5. Provide employment readiness, health, life skills, and leadership development opportunities that help teens build
confidence, positive self-identity, and future career potential.
6. Assist with the promotion and implementation of teen initiatives and activities that reinforce positive youth
development, social-emotional learning, leadership development, and 21st-century skills.
7. Collaborate with Club staff and statewide partners to enhance teen programming, coordinate initiatives and
events, and strengthen overall youth experiences.
8. Effectively plan, organize, and implement all program activities and workshops.
9. Create monthly calendars of programs and activities targeting members and parents.
10. Responsible for implementing scheduled events, workshops, and programs as scheduled on the calendar.
11. Plan and schedule various workshops that will benefit the program and provide additional assistance to the
members.
12. Create and manage internal processes to improve the quality of program delivery quarterly (e.g., parent surveys,
NYOI, site observation tools).
13. Compile monthly reports reflecting all activities (programs, special vendors, etc), attendance (sign-in/-out sheets),
and participation at the site.
14. Addresses behavioral issues and incidents promptly and assists in conflict resolution with members and parents
as necessary.
15. Work with staff and members to correct unsafe behaviors, ensure emergency procedures are followed, and take
actions to prevent accidents.
16. Conduct staff and volunteer observations and evaluations for continuous quality improvement in partnership with
the Teen Services Director.
17. Collaborate with the Teen Services Director to implement and evaluate the overall programs and activities.
18. Supervise and facilitate after-hours teen programming (including extended teen-only hours, weekend evening
events, dances, and special activities) in partnership with the Keystone Advisor weekly.
19. Promote and advertise family-friendly events to parents (e.g., “date night” drop-off opportunities as after- hours
programming opportunities).
20. Coordinate and support weekly Teen Nights and fundraising activities for high school members.
21. Maintain a pupil-to-staff member ratio of no more than 15:1.
Resource Management
1. Assist in the management of financial resources. Control expenditures against the budget.
2. Collaborate with the Teen Services Director to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the overall services and
activities to ensure the unit is operating within budget.
3. Serve as a liaison with BGCA Teen Services to maximize resources, partnerships, training opportunities, and
program opportunities available for teens.
4. Maintain Teen Center spaces, program materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure an organized, welcoming,
and youth-friendly environment.
5. Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and external partners to strengthen teen outreach efforts,
partnerships, and program opportunities for youth.
6. Ensuring that each member receives a healthy, nutritious snack that conforms to nutrition standards as
established by the USDA’s National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Partnership Development
1. Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and other community-based organizations to maximize
member participation.
2. Responsible for keeping up with school events and coordinating with school administration at various community
schools to participate in school events such as Back to School Night, Orientations, and other school-wide events
for promotion and outreach.
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with families of members in order to gain buy-in of program objectives.
4. Seek contributions (i.e., in-kind, pro-bono, and leveraged resources) to the program, including staff, volunteers,
non-school facilities (as appropriate), equipment, supplies, community partners, and other resources in
partnership with BGCWV Volunteer Coordinator and members of the Philanthropy team as appropriate.
Marketing and Public Relations
1. Manage and maintain public relations in collaboration with the Marketing team to increase the visibility of
programs, services, and activities within the Club and the community.
2. Collect input from students, families, school administrators/staff, and community partners to assess needs and
solicit feedback to encourage program improvement.
3. Provide pictures, videos, and highlight stories to the Marketing team for the monthly enewsletter in accordance
with the uploading schedule.
4. Provide updates for the Webpages to the Marketing team monthly.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Participate in and/or lead special programs, events, and projects as assigned.
● Supervise members during field trips, transportation, and off-site activities.
● May be required to supervise members in other program areas or Club sites as needed.
● Maintain knowledge and use of myBGCA.net and other required program systems.

● May be required to drive a Club van based on organizational requirements and acceptable driving record.
● Assist with maintaining organized, safe, and welcoming Teen Center spaces.
● May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
● Perform additional duties as assigned to support Club operations and teen programming.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) to receive/provide information, discuss
issues, explain guidelines/instructions, and advise/counsel, etc.
External: Maintains contact with the external community, which includes and is not limited to community partners, groups,
schools, members’ parents, and others, to assist in providing a high-quality Club experience.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
● College units in a related field preferred: Child Development, Psychology, Kinesiology, etc.
● Experience supervising and evaluating others
● 1 year of experience as a Youth Development Professional/program worker is required.
● Strong organizational and leadership skills which align with our Values (Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability,

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
● Ability to deal with the general public.
● Ability to organize event planning and coordination, knowledge/experience

● Must meet all health and safety requirements of the organization, including TB clearance and CPR/First Aid
certification.
● Must be willing to drive their personal vehicle and meet the insurance requirements of the organization.
● Valid State Driver's License
● Maybe required to drive a club vehicle (depending on driving record and age).
DISCLAIMER:
The position requires the ability to maintain a stationary position and engage in physical activities such as moving,
bending, reaching, and positioning. It may also involve traversing and ascending/descending as necessary. The role
includes frequent interruptions via in-person contact, phone calls, and email communications. Work environments may
vary, encompassing both indoor and outdoor conditions based on activity locations. Additionally, interactions with youth
and adults may involve moderate to high noise levels during activities. Physical exertion may be necessary to move and
transport supplies and equipment. Must be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs. Staff are provided a laptop, a cellphone, and a
workspace at the site.
