Full Job Description

Bookkeeper Wanted

Coopwood Publishing Group is seeking an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in Cleveland, Mississippi.

This is a full-time, in-office position and is not a remote role.

Coopwood Publishing Group publishes Delta Magazine, Delta Business Journal, Mississippi Business Journal, Delta Ag Journal, and The Bolivar Bullet (newspaper) and serves readers and advertisers throughout Mississippi and the Delta region.

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring all financial transactions are processed efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will be dependable, trustworthy, and capable of working independently while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

Process payroll and maintain payroll records

Prepare and file payroll and sales tax reports

Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements

Generate customer invoices and statements

Process customer payments and deposits

Monitor outstanding accounts and assist with collections when necessary

Maintain vendor records and process vendor payments

Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation

Assist management with budgeting and financial tracking

Work closely with the company's accountant and provide requested documentation

Perform other bookkeeping and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience required

Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, payroll taxes, and bank reconciliations

Experience preparing payroll tax and sales tax reports

Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

Must be able to work on-site in Cleveland, Mississippi

Degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred but not required
