Wildlife Biologist – Dripping Springs, Texas

Plateau Land & Wildlife

Plateau Land & Wildlife is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Wildlife Biologist to join our growing team in the Dripping Springs area. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with private landowners and clients on wildlife management, habitat restoration, conservation planning, and land stewardship projects throughout the Texas Hill Country.

Position Summary

The Wildlife Biologist is responsible for conducting wildlife and habitat assessments, developing management recommendations, preparing technical reports, and assisting clients with conservation and land management objectives. This role combines field biology, project management, client interaction, and technical writing.

Essential Responsibilities

Conduct wildlife and habitat assessments on private and commercial properties.
Perform field surveys and collect biological data related to wildlife populations, vegetation, water resources, and habitat conditions.
Develop wildlife management plans, habitat restoration recommendations, and conservation strategies tailored to client goals.
Demonstrated proficiency in identification of Texas bird species, including migratory and resident birds, through visual observation and auditory recognition
Conduct game population surveys utilizing spotlight counts, camera surveys, aerial surveys, and other accepted wildlife census techniques.
Provide recommendations regarding habitat improvement, invasive species management, erosion control, grazing practices, and water resource management.
Prepare written reports, maps, presentations, and supporting documentation for clients and regulatory agencies.
Assist clients with wildlife tax valuation, wildlife exemption compliance, and conservation planning.
Coordinate and oversee habitat improvement projects such as fencing, brush management, reseeding, prescribed burns, and restoration efforts.
Utilize GIS, GPS, mapping software, and field technology to support project work.
Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, contractors, governmental agencies, and team members.
Travel regularly to client properties throughout Central Texas and surrounding regions.
Work independently and safely in outdoor environments under varying terrain and weather conditions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Range Management, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
Knowledge of Texas wildlife species, habitat management practices, and land stewardship principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience with GIS software and field data collection technology preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain.
Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to lift and carry field equipment up to 50 pounds.
Ability to safely operate trucks, ATVs, UTVs, trailers, and field equipment.
