Full Job Description

Claims Assistant - Workers' Compensation
We are JT2, a successful statewide third party administrator (TPA). We have an opportunity for an onsite full-time Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant, available in our Northern California branch located in Oakland.

With over two decades of experience in claims administration, JT2 has delivered consistent cost savings to clients while providing quality care to claimants. Our excellence in this sector has been recognized by regulating bodies and clients alike. Our expertise ranges from public to private clients with specialization in JPA's, municipalities, and school districts.

Claims Assistant Job Description
You provide technical and administrative support to claims adjusters and perform other claims administration office tasks to resolve workers compensation claims.

Setup and enter new claims into the claims management system
Calculate wage statements and indemnity benefits
Timely process disability benefits, award checks and medical reimbursements to injured workers
Timely process settlement documents, UR Referrals, IMR responses, statutory benefit notices, medical objection letters including initiation of PQME notices
Responsible for office tasks such as faxing, photocopying, mailing of document, and some receptionist duties
Review, prepare, create, and/or sends letters, reports, and forms per client service instructions or claims examiner/supervisor requests.
Answer and initiate telephone calls, setup medical appointments, and may provide customer service as required
Handle task assignments by way of a diary management system
Prepare file balancing of claims as assigned by the claims examiner
Support and help in claims processes of minor workers’ compensation claims under close supervision to include communication with employees, employers and medical facilities, administration of benefits
Other activities/projects as assigned

Claims Assistant Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience in the workers’ compensation process is required
Excellent oral and written communication
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products (45-50 WPM typing speed with reasonable accuracy)
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in a team environment, good interpersonal skills
Ability to take direction
Willingness to take Workers’ Compensation Classes
Ability to achieve high performance standards and/or exceed Service Expectations
