Full Job Description

About the Application Architect opportunity

This is a newly created, first-of-its-kind role at a multi-state company — a critical hire as the organization executes one of the most significant enterprise transformations in its history. Reporting directly to the VP of IT, you will own the application and integration architecture domain as they migrate to a consolidated Oracle Cloud Fusion platform (HCM, Finance, and CIS), replacing legacy ERP environments.

As the sole Application Architect, you’ll define the integration layer — an API-driven architecture connecting Oracle Cloud and surrounding systems — guide build/buy/configure decisions as new Oracle modules come online, and sit on the Architecture Review Board. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with direct influence over architecture standards, SDLC governance, and AI development guardrails.

This is a rare opportunity to shape enterprise architecture from the ground up — not inherit someone else's blueprint. The work is complex, consequential, and high-visibility, with direct access to IT leadership and a clear mandate to build something lasting

What you'll do

Lead integration architecture across the Oracle Cloud migration — designing API- integration and standards that connect Oracle and surrounding enterprise applications
Define current- and target-state architectures across ERP, HCM, CIS, and finance domains, utilizing Oracle tooling (OIC) and out-of-the-box configurations
Guide application rationalization — retain, retire, replace, or modernize decisions as Oracle modules displace legacy platforms
Partner with IT leadership, an engaged implementation partner, and business stakeholders to ensure architectural alignment throughout a phased, multi-year transformation
Contribute to SDLC standards, AI development guardrails, and architectural principles documentation as part of the Architecture Review Board

Required

Hands-on software development background — must have built enterprise level applications; ideally using .NET, Python, low-code/no-code, and SDLC
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
5+ years in application architecture, solutions architecture, or senior technical lead roles involving cross-functional enterprise implementations
Experience designing API-driven integration layers between enterprise applications at meaningful scale
Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise architecture and integration design patterns — circuit breakers, retry logic, event-driven architecture, message queuing, API gateway patterns, etc. — and the ability to apply and communicate them to development teams
ERP experience — SAP, Oracle, or comparable enterprise platform; must understand how ERP modules interact with surrounding systems and data flows
Strong communicator with the ability to deliver clear, concise architectural explanations to both technical teams and executive stakeholders
