Full Job Description

<Job Overview>
Support the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP) under a Farm to School State Formula Grant. The developer will work on an agile-based AWS cloud platform, delivering full stack Java solutions that support local food procurement and supply chain management for school meal programs across Maryland's LEAs. Work spans front-end UI development, back-end service integration, RESTful API consumption, and formal system design documentation per DoIT standards.

<Duties>

Design, develop, and implement complex Java-based solutions using recommended frameworks and technologies.
Translate application requirements into web-based solutions and integrate system components using REST, SOAP, EJB, and Web Services.
Build and maintain front-end interfaces using Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, and JSON.
Develop back-end application code that interfaces with external systems, APIs, and services.
Write business rules and logic; develop shell scripts to support application operations.
Participate in code reviews and follow test-driven development practices throughout the SDLC.
Deliver System Design Documents per DoIT standards including: system/subsystem architecture, ER diagrams, full data dictionary, processing logic, and external interface definitions.

<Required Experience>

8 years designing and developing applications in Java, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, and Angular.
3 years developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Proficiency in Java/J2EE, JPA, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and EJB.
Experience with CI/CD tools Maven and Jenkins, source control via Git, and app servers JBOSS and Tomcat.
Knowledge of concurrent application design and Spring component architecture.
Shell scripting experience and unit testing with code coverage.
Oracle Certified Professional – Java SE 8 (required).
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in CS, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

<PreferedExperience>

Experience with AWS, DevOps, and containerized cloud environments.
3+ years prior MSDE application development experience.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
