Full Job Description

We are a family of three businesses — Avon Grips, Tacki Mac Grips, and Tee Direct — operating in the sporting goods and golf supply industry. Our operations are lean and transaction-driven, with a steady flow of accounts receivable and payable that require careful, timely attention. We are looking for a reliable and growth-minded individual to join our team and support our accounting function.

Role Overview

The Accounting Assistant will serve as the critical link between our accounting system and our bank, ensuring that money in and money out is accurately recorded in real time. You will work closely with our accountant to support collections, cash posting, and clerical accounting tasks across all three businesses. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone actively pursuing a career in accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (A/R)

Monitor and maintain aging reports to identify overdue accounts
Follow up with customers on outstanding invoices via phone and email
Post payments received to the accounting system accurately and promptly
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
Assist with collections outreach and documentation

Accounts Payable (A/P)

Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment
Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices for three-way matching
Maintain organized records of all A/P transactions
Flag and escalate any discrepancies to the accountant

Bank & System Reconciliation

Perform daily or weekly reconciliation between bank activity and the accounting system
Post bank transactions including deposits, ACH payments, and wire transfers
Assist with month-end close tasks and reconciliation reporting
Maintain clean, audit-ready records across all three company files

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in accounting or business preferred
Basic understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger concepts
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general comfort with accounting software
Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
Clear communicator, especially for collections follow-up
Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks across three business entities

Preferred

Experience with Sage or similar accounting platforms
Associate's degree or pursuing a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance
Prior experience in a clerical accounting or bookkeeping role
Aspiration to grow into a staff accountant or CPA track role

We are looking for someone who sees this role as a stepping stone in their accounting career. As you demonstrate reliability and accuracy, there is a clear path to take on more complex accounting responsibilities — including financial reporting, cost analysis, and supporting the lead accountant on higher-level tasks. We support continuing education and will work with the right candidate on their professional development goals.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
