Cornerstone Finance is a growing fractional CFO & financial outsourcing firm based near Portsmouth, NH. We provide white glove financial partnership to startups & small businesses – typically under $10M in revenue. Our services are designed to scale with clients as they grow, beginning with bookkeeping, tax, payroll and financial reporting and expanding to include CFO and FP&A services such as KPI reporting, forecasting, budgeting, fundraising, exit planning and much more.

We are seeking someone that is looking to grow with us and establish themselves as a strong US-based accountant / bookkeeper on our team. The right person would be interested in growing their involvement up to full-time over the coming months. Our process utilizes QuickBooks, Bill.com, Gusto Payroll, Expensify and related software for small businesses and startups across the US and various industries.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience and a strong command of accounting / bookkeeping and related processes like payroll and AP.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring that daily service operations of the business are reliably continuing in regards to all internal and external stakeholders; supporting other team members in the management, completion and enhancement of their work

Helping to design our client success, client fulfillment & hospitality ecosystem, spanning client experience, systems & processes, account management & more

Owning our ClickUp environment, ensuring we have strong client success & project management routines & philosophies and that our team is consistently following this approach

Championing our client success operations, including client success plans, routine check-ins, communications, service objective achievement and more

Proactively coming up with ideas for enhancing the business and owning their implementation

Helping us explore & implement new ways of living out our value of hospitality

Performance Expectations:

Strong engagement & team presence, proactive communication, transparency, follow team policies, be kind & easy to work with

Punctually attend all weekly team meetings, 1:1 session with manager, other scheduled meetings (whether internal or client / prospect-facing), etc.

Be prepared for all meetings, including an agenda when it is your meeting, communicate beforehand if expectations should change, you cannot attend or meetings will be cancelled

Work and be available during US ET working hours unless otherwise agreed and communicated

Weekly email on Friday with completed hour log, update from week, plan for next week & other key updates

Within reason, keep all project management materials & software updated

Take ownership over your work – lead, be proactive, move with urgency, communicate, be all-in, learn & improve

Alignment of work & communications with Cornerstone brand & messaging across all formats

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is a plus
Some similar experience as a bookkeeper or a relevant accounting role required.
Working knowledge of GAAP.
Comfort learning and utilizing multiple systems. Some examples include G Suite, Quickbooks online, Salesforce, ClickUp, Numeral.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel; very skilled with spreadsheets, pivot tables, etc.
