Electrical Senior Associate / Project Manager

Location: Raleigh, NC

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Senior Associate / Project Manager to join our growing MEP consulting team. This leadership role is responsible for managing electrical engineering projects from proposal through construction, maintaining strong client relationships, and leading multidisciplinary project teams. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with proven project management and business development skills.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical engineering projects through all phases of planning, design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
Monitor project progress, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project goals.
Oversee the design of electrical building systems, including:
Power distribution
Lighting systems
Emergency and standby power
Fire alarm systems
Low-voltage and specialty systems
Review construction documents for quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and other design disciplines.
Participate in client presentations, proposal development, and business development activities.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and supervision to engineers and designers.
Manage project teams and direct reports while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
Support construction administration by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing site observations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or required based on project responsibilities.
5+ years of experience designing electrical systems within an MEP consulting environment.
3+ years of project management experience.
Experience independently managing commercial, healthcare, higher education, mission critical, laboratory, mixed-use, or institutional projects.
Strong understanding of project budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and proposal preparation.
Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Excellent client-facing, presentation, and communication skills.
Strong knowledge of electrical building codes, NFPA, NEC, and energy codes.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders and owner groups.
Business development and client relationship management experience.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and project managers.
Knowledge of sustainable building design and energy-efficient electrical systems.
Experience with mission critical, media, broadcast, healthcare, or higher education projects is a plus.
