About Truck Ranch

Truck Ranch is the premier used truck dealership in the western United States. We are building a production-driven operation focused on delivering high-quality trucks to the frontline quickly, consistently, and efficiently.

We are looking for a highly organized and results-oriented Used Car Manager to lead our vehicle intake, inspection, work order creation, production scheduling, and frontline readiness processes. This role is critical to ensuring every vehicle moves efficiently from acquisition to retail-ready status.

Position Summary

The Used Car Manager owns the complete vehicle production lifecycle from vehicle acquisition through frontline-ready status. This role serves as the operational hub between Purchasing, Service, Recon, Transportation, Photography, and Sales to ensure every truck moves efficiently through the production process.

Responsible for leading teams that perform vehicle intake, prep wash, digital cosmetic inspections, emissions testing, vehicle inspections, repair estimating, work order creation, photography, inventory control, and vehicle dispatch. Success in this role requires strong operational leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple workflows while maintaining quality, inventory accuracy, and production timelines.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving operational challenges, and is passionate about building efficient processes that improve throughput and reduce cycle time. This individual must be a strong team player who can build relationships across departments, lead through influence, and create alignment between Sales, Service, Recon, Transportation, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Intake & Inventory Management

Oversee all incoming vehicle check-ins and stock-in activities
Ensure vehicle information, keys, and inventory records are accurate and properly maintained
Verify vehicles are entered into inventory systems accurately and on time
Maintain inventory location accuracy and vehicle status tracking
Ensure all vehicles are properly tagged, tracked, and accounted for throughout the production process

Inspection & Evaluation

Lead the vehicle intake inspection process
Oversee prep wash operations prior to inspection
Manage digital cosmetic inspections and condition documentation
Ensure emissions testing and required compliance checks are completed
Oversee vehicle inspections and repair identification
Verify inspection accuracy and consistency across the team

Work Order & Production Planning

Review inspection findings and build comprehensive work orders
Create accurate repair estimates and reconditioning plans
Prioritize repairs based on inventory needs and sales demand
Coordinate workflow between service, body, detail, accessories, and vendor partners
Monitor production schedules and vehicle progress

Production Flow Management

Oversee the daily flow of vehicles from stock-in through frontline-ready status
Ensure all incoming vehicles receive timely intake processing, inspections, and production planning
Manage work-in-process inventory and maintain visibility of vehicle status throughout the production cycle
Coordinate vehicle movement between departments, vendors, and retail locations
Drive accountability for production timelines and frontline readiness targets
Monitor production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to maintain throughput

Photography & Frontline Readiness

Oversee vehicle photography and merchandising readiness
Verify vehicles meet Truck Ranch quality standards prior to frontline release
Conduct final quality reviews before vehicles are dispatched to retail lots
Coordinate vehicle delivery to retail locations and merchandising areas

Team Leadership

Directly supervise vehicle intake, inspection, photography, and production coordination personnel
Establish daily production objectives and communicate priorities across teams
Monitor team performance and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities
Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, quality, and continuous improvement
Conduct daily production meetings and workflow reviews

Process Improvement

Continuously improve production efficiency, quality, and throughput
Develop and implement process improvements
Support operational reporting and KPI tracking
Drive accountability for production performance and cycle time reduction

QualificationsRequired

5+ years of automotive operations, reconditioning, inventory management, service operations, or production management experience
Previous leadership or supervisory experience
Strong understanding of vehicle inspections and reconditioning processes
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams
Strong people management skills with the ability to hold team members accountable while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Demonstrated success creating, implementing, and improving operational processes
Must be a team player with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and functional areas
Great people leader and process manager
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to build trust and maintain strong working relationships with employees, vendors, and department leaders
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with dealership management systems and production tracking tools
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred

Experience in used vehicle operations or reconditioning centers
Knowledge of vehicle appraisal and repair estimating processes
Experience managing production workflows and inventory systems
Lean Manufacturing or process improvement experience
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
