Senior Traffic Analyst

Salary: Based on Experience

Location: California

Job Information: Aspen Environmental Group is seeking an experienced and motivated traffic analyst professional to support our growing environmental practice in our four major offices in Southern California, Bay Area, and Sacramento.

About Aspen: Aspen Environmental Group (www.aspeneg.com, IG: aspenenvironmentalgroup) is a dynamic, interdisciplinary environmental services firm that provides environmental planning, impact analysis, permitting, and compliance services for a wide variety of public and private clients. Aspen specializes in providing expert compliance services for complex, multi-faceted infrastructure and public works projects. Aspen has approximately 70 dedicated and enthusiastic employees located mainly across four offices in California. We maintain a collaborative work environment that promotes multi-disciplinary collaboration and rigorous applied science. Required Education and Experience

Minimum of 15 years of professional experience as a traffic analyst with proven and strong analytical and writing skills, and a good working knowledge of both California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Experience conducting traffic analyses using the VMT (vehicle miles traveled) methodology as required by CEQA for EIRs and IS/MNDs.
Experience in conducting LOS (level of service) analysis for technical studies and in support of environmental review documents under CEQA and NEPA.
Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in transportation, civil engineering, environmental science, planning, or related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
Extremely strong writing and communication skills, as the bulk of the work is focused on analytical report writing for technical studies and NEPA/CEQA documents.
Proficiency in traffic analysis software.

Key Responsibilities

Conducting traffic studies and analyzing data to assess environmental impacts.
Conduct desktop research and field work (as necessary) to complete technical studies.
Collaborating with planners and environmental specialists to develop effective mitigation measures.
Preparing and reviewing technical studies to support CEQA and NEPA compliance .
Providing expert advice on traffic-related aspects of projects to ensure legal and environmental compliance.
Keeping up to date with changing regulations and industry best practices.
Effectively manage writing tasks and/or projects and interact/collaborate with teams of staff.
Ensure high-quality standards for all project deliverables.

Qualifications for Success:

Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of competence and experience in writing, working with teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory personnel.
Exceptionally detail-oriented with attention to quality.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality written work product and verbal presentations.
Expertise in VMT and LOS analysis.
Strong working knowledge and demonstrated work experience in California with both CEQA and NEPA compliance and permitting for:

o Urban, suburban, and rural land development projects;

o Energy projects;

o Water projects;

o Federal and local agency land use plan amendments;

o Projects with utilities, municipalities, cities, and/or counties.

Willingness to take pride in ownership of work products.
Client-focused, responsive to client needs, and solution oriented.
Proficient (i.e., strong working knowledge) in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Word and Excel. Ideal candidate would also be familiar with ArcGIS.

Compensation. Aspen offers a wide range of benefits and a competitive compensation package. The proposed annual salary for this position is $115,000-$145,000, plus benefits and the opportunity for bonuses. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual experience, education, qualifications, and work location, and will take into account internal equity and the market median of similar jobs.
