Help Strengthen Cybersecurity Across the Defense Industrial Base

CyberNINES, now known as the Federal Division of ControlCase, is expanding — and we’re looking for talented Certified CMMC Assessors (CCAs) to join our team as we help protect the companies that support the U.S. Department of Defense.

As one of the earliest organizations accredited as a C3PAO (26th in the nation), We are trusted to deliver high-quality CMMC Level 2 assessments and cybersecurity advisory services across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).

About the Role

As a Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA), you’ll serve as a subject matter expert during formal CMMC Level 2 assessments. You’ll collaborate with internal CyberNINES team members, partner C3PAOs, and client organizations to evaluate cybersecurity readiness, validate compliance, and strengthen security programs across the supply chain.

We are hiring at multiple levels — from newly certified CCAs to experienced Lead CCAs who can conduct and manage assessments end-to-end. Compensation is commensurate with certification level and experience.

This is a remote-first position with travel required for on-site client assessments (up to 20%).

What You’ll Do

Execute CMMC Level 2 Assessments

Conduct formal assessments in alignment with Cyber-AB and CMMC guidelines
Perform documentation reviews, interviews, and technical validations
Ensure assessment integrity, accuracy, and consistency

Document Evidence & Support Reporting

Collect, evaluate, and validate assessment evidence
Clearly document findings, scores, and observations
Support internal quality review and official submission processes

Partner with Clients as a Trusted Advisor

Communicate expectations, findings, and outcomes clearly and professionally
Provide thoughtful feedback and remediation insights where appropriate
Build strong, credibility-based client relationships

Maintain Framework Expertise

Stay current on evolving requirements across CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and DoD cybersecurity standards
Contribute to continuous improvement of assessment methodologies

Continue Professional Growth

Maintain active CCA or Lead CCA certification
Engage in ongoing professional development and training

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship (all employees subject to security screening)
Tier 3 Suitability (required)
Active CCA or Lead CCA certification from the Cyber-AB
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent professional experience
Strong understanding of CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment
Willingness to travel up to 20%

Experience Levels

Entry-Level CCA

Newly certified CCA with limited or no assessment experience
1–2 years in cybersecurity, IT security, or related field
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards
Strong desire to learn and grow within formal assessment methodologies

Mid-Level CCA

20+ completed CMMC Level 2 assessments
2–4 years conducting cybersecurity assessments or working in regulated environments
Demonstrated expertise in NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 requirements
Experience with GRC tools and assessment documentation

Lead CCA

10+ assessments completed in a lead assessor role
4+ years conducting formal cybersecurity assessments
Proven ability to lead assessment teams and manage client relationships
Deep expertise across multiple frameworks (CMMC, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001, CIS Controls)
Experience mentoring junior assessors
