Full Job Description

Pepper Story is an international publishing studio working with a variety of serialized fiction platforms, including GoodNovel, AlphaNovel, Dreame, iReader.

We're looking for writers interested in creating serialized romance fiction for online reading platforms.

This is a freelance, project-based position.

Writer’s Benefit:

Compensation: $15-$30 per chapter (depending on writing quality, experience, and project requirements)
Performance bonuses based on story performance on publishing platforms
Long-term collaboration opportunities
Detailed chapter outlines, story guide, and ongoing writing guidance will be provided for all projects.

Writer’s Requirements:

Ability to write a minimum of 10 chapters per week (1200-1500 words per chapter) based on a structured outline
Strong understanding of pacing, emotional tension, and reader engagement
Ability to write concise, impactful dialogue and compelling cliffhangers.
Comfortable writing mature romance and intimate scenes
Commitment not to use AI-generated content in assigned projects.

We are specifically looking for writers familiar with fast-paced, emotionally driven serialized romance fiction.

This position is generally NOT suitable for writers whose experience is in traditional slow-burn romance, literary fiction, thriller, suspense, horror, or other non-romance genres.

Writers with experience publishing or ghostwriting on web novel platforms such as GoodNovel, Dreame, AlphaNovel, iReader, Radish, and similar platforms are especially encouraged to apply.

How to Apply:

1. Attach your CV and a romance fiction writing sample (1200-1500 words) with your application.

(Please note that we are primarily evaluating a writer's ability to create strong openings for serialized fiction. Ideally, the sample should be the opening chapter (or first 1,200–1,500 words) of a romance novel.)

2. Selected applicants will be invited to complete a paid trial chapter ($15). (Trial chapters remain the property of Pepper Story and may be used for evaluation purposes only.)

3. Writers whose trial chapters meet project requirements will be offered freelance contracts. Long-term chapter rates range from $15–$30 per chapter, depending on writing quality, project requirements, and performance.
